Complete Half-Life 2 Part 10 walkthrough covering the chopper battle, avoiding traps, and reaching Black Mesa East.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Climb to the platform and drop onto the top of the pipe. Sprint along the pipe, across the ramp to the platforms, then drop to the roof-covered platform. Push the top-load washing machine over the ledge into the counterbalance.
  2. 2
Run back along the platforms to the lowest one, then jump to the boat. Begin pressing the 'action' button as you fall to the boat for an instant start and take off. Ignore the barrel if it is still on the ramp and drive at and jump the barrier wall.
  3. 3
Drive to the Rebel station for a refit (a machine gun will be added to your boat). When complete, leave, smash through the debris, and meet the chopper waiting outside. Set it on fire. You cannot kill it within the time allotted; it will turn tail and run, but it will have many holes.
  4. 4
You will encounter another gate system. Both gates are initially open until you approach the second gate, at which point both close, trapping you. As you pass under gate #1, look right for the partially submerged section of fence. Use it to reach the walkway, and use the walkway to exit the trap.
  5. 5
In the next tunnel, there are 3 Combine soldiers (Zs) walking at the end. Drop out at the end of the tunnel and look to the right. You will see a positron (POS) and several explosive charges (EBs). Lots of EBs will roll down to the water when you approach the ramp. Destroy the MG positron (#1) and/or the EBs, then the positron (#2).
  6. 6
Enter the area and maneuver to the right. Perform a 180-degree turn to face the very low bulkhead, then charge and ride over it to avoid getting into trouble.
  7. 7
In the next area, you will find shipping container #1 with supplies; ignore it unless you are low on health or ammo. Further left, past beached ship #1, are 2 Combine armored personnel carriers (APCs) with launcher capability, positioned high up on the dock. Beached ship #2 and a partially submerged container #2 complete the lineup.
  8. 8
Drive past ship #1 to the rudder of ship #2. Stop, jump out of the boat, and sprint past the right side of container #2 to its far end. Stand in the opening and shoot the EBs inside with your pistol. Sprint back to the boat through the container, then drive back through the container to the safety of the dock's underside and pilings. Drive to and over the XP ramp to leave the area.
  9. 9
You will soon emerge into a wide-open area with desolation. There are a couple of small, mid-sized harbor tugs. There are also rock pillars, flood gates, and an angry chopper. Collect all supplies between the 2 ships, but do not approach ship #2 until you are ready to deal with the chopper. There are explosive charges (SCs) all over, on and in the partially submerged pipe. You can see 2 crates between ship #2 and a set of mud or rock pillars to the left of it. Drive between the 2 and over the SCs when you are ready.
  10. 10
Chopper Battle: Stop about 100 virtual yards prior to the EBs floating in the water and wait for the chopper to enter range, then fire on it. Continue firing and begin backing down until the chopper reaches the 11:00/55 degrees position overhead. Then, come about, follow the chopper, and continue firing until empty. Stop, wait for your weapon to recharge and the chopper to come about and back into range. Fire on the chopper again when it's in range. As before, begin backing down as the chopper approaches 30 degrees to extend your firing time. Once it reaches 55 degrees, perform a 180-degree turn, maintain fire until empty, and follow until you are about 100 yards from any remaining EBs. Repeat this maneuver until the chopper drops into the water.
  11. 11
New Route to Black Mesa East: After dealing with the chopper, return to the water area where the EBs were floating. To orient yourself, face the overhead gate and turn left. There are 2 tall rock pillars lined up, and the leading pillar has a very small one close to its left side. Further left and back is a mangled red freight container. Move to the gap between the leading pillar and the small one to its left, then put your back to it. This is position #1; you now have the debris ramp and the flood gate at your 12:00. Look to the 2 large, lined-up rock pillars on the sandbar to your 1:00. This is position #2. You will be passing over the edge of that sandbar at full speed on your approach to the debris ramp. Drive over to the sandbar and position yourself so that the debris ramp is lined up with the outside corner of the dam. When lined up correctly, you will have the flood gate just above and to the right. Zoom in for a close-up. You'll see the vertical lines made by the concrete forms while the concrete was setting. There is 1 pour line between two large sections of concrete and 1 narrow section of concrete to the right, just where the height changes from the low ledge to the higher corner. Aim the boat for the pour line between the narrow section of concrete on the right and the wide section on the left.
Tips
  • When firing on the chopper, the optimal angle for your boat's machine gun is around 11:00/55 degrees overhead. After this point, your weapon loses overhead tracking on an object passing over (the reticle turns red), and any subsequent sent ammo is wasted.
  • The new route to Black Mesa East is difficult and takes time to master. Initially, you may have a low success rate, but practice will improve it. Even if you miss the jump on the first and second attempts, you will still get to jump the flood gate sooner than not.
  • Regarding entering the building for supplies: if you are at or close to 100% health, avoid the building to save time. The most you typically get from the building is 1 HE grenade (HEG), a few pistol and .357 rounds, and 1-2 shotgun shells (SBs).
  • The chopper battle can usually be completed halfway through the 4th pass, 90-95% of the time. Occasionally, you might be able to take it down before it completes its 3rd pass (5-10% of the time).
