Master the Upper Junon section of Final Fantasy VII with our detailed walkthrough. Learn how to ace the parade, find hidden items, and navigate the shops.
Walkthrough
- 1After arriving in Upper Junon, head north-west to a tower and then west onto a massive elevator. Ride it down to the lower level.
- 2Enter a building to the south, talk to an officer, and then go to the locker room to find a Shinra outfit. Put it on.
- 3After the parade routine, leave the room, watch the parade start, and then head south-east to save your game.
- 4Head south-west and follow your squad to witness the Junon cannon.
- 5In the next screen, talk to the officer and follow your squad down an alley to intercept the parade.
- 6When the order to charge is given, run straight down (towards the camera) into the formation and make your way to the back line, aiming for the third line nearest the camera.
- 7When in place, press the [Circle] button (or [OK] on PC) every time the officer shouts “Now!”. Avoid mashing the button to maintain formation.
- 8Successfully performing the parade routine will earn you a reward based on your rating:
- 29% or less: Grenade
- 930% to 39%: Potion x6
- 1040% to 49%: Ether x6
- 1150% or higher: 5000 Gil
- 12After the parade, you will be forced to drill more. Back in the locker room, practice the new military poses.
- 13After gaining free time, leave the locker room, save your game, and exit via the south-western exit.
- 14Head down the street to the shops. Explore the easternmost building for Materia: Sense (1000 Gil), Seal (3000 Gil), Restore (750 Gil), Heal (1550 Gil), and Revive (3000 Gil).
- 15Head west into the alley to find the weapon shop. Upgrades include the Hardedge (1500 Gil), Grand Glove for Tifa (1200 Gil), Atomic Scissors (1400 Gil), Striking Staff (1300 Gil), Diamond Pin for Red XIII (1300 Gil), and Boomerang (1400 Gil).
- 16Downstairs from the weapon shop is a bar.
- 17Continue to the next store to buy various items.
- 18The fourth building is an apartment complex. On the first floor, a Shinra soldier guards a ladder down. Talk to him to make him move.
Tips
- Focus on achieving a 50% or higher rating in the parade for the 5000 Gil reward, but don't stress too much if you don't get it.
- The Seal and Revive Materia from the Materia shop are useful additions, though not strictly necessary.
- Prioritize buying the Grand Glove for Tifa and the Diamond Pin for Red XIII if you don't have better alternatives.
- Pay attention to the yellow numbers at the bottom of the screen when buying weapons to identify upgrades.
- The Enemy Skill Materia can be found in the training area (mentioned in an image caption).
