Follow this Final Fantasy VII walkthrough to find the Lunar Harp, awaken the Sleeping Forest, and reach the Forgotten Capital, collecting valuable items along the way.
Walkthrough
- 1Cloud wakes up in Mideel and is tasked with pursuing Sephiroth again. Leave Mideel and board the Tiny Bronco to head towards Bone Village on the northern continent.
- 2In Bone Village, talk to the shopkeeper to learn about the Lunar Harp needed to pass through the Sleeping Forest.
- 3To get the Lunar Harp, you need to dig. Hire excavators (100 Gil each) to help pinpoint the treasure's location by observing the direction they look after you detonate a bomb. Alternatively, dig blindly.
- 4The optimal digging spot for the Lunar Harp is within the smoke coming from the building the shopkeeper stands near. Position Cloud so he is touching the eastern edge of the smoke, near the ledge to the south.
- 5The next morning, search the chest at the indicated spot to claim the Lunar Harp. You can also find a Mop and a Megalixir by digging around, but focus on the Lunar Harp for now.
- 6With the Lunar Harp, proceed through the Sleeping Forest. Continue north to exit the forest.
- 7Follow a dirt path under a fallen log to find a chest containing a Water Ring.
- 8Scale ledges and head back through the collapsed log you just crossed under, continuing north to the next screen.
- 9Follow the linear path to reach the world map. Head north to reach the Forgotten Capital (also known as the City of the Ancients).
- 10In the Forgotten Capital, head north to a four-way fork. Turn west and proceed to the next screen.
- 11Continue north and enter a house. Find a Save Point on the ground floor and a chest with a Magic Source on the upper floor.
- 12Leave the house and head north-east to another screen. Go down some stairs to find a chest containing an Aurora Armlet (a four-socket armor with good defensive stats that absorbs cold damage).
- 13Return to the fork near the city entrance and take the eastern branch. Continue north-east to another fork, then take the eastern fork and enter a house.
- 14Follow the winding path and climb a ladder to find a chest with a Guard Source.
- 15Leave this house and follow the north-eastern path to a third house. Enter it.
- 16On the ground floor, grab an Elixir from a chest. Climb the ladder to find beds. Rest here.
- 17Before leaving the house, search behind the third bed (furthest from the ladder) to find your third Enemy Skill Materia.
- 18Backtrack to the city entrance and take the unexplored northern road. Pass through a linear screen to reach a small lake.
- 19Head around the western shore of the lake to a building. Ascend to the top to claim Comet Materia.
- 20Backtrack and head down smooth, blue stairs. Continue through another screen to reach intact towers. Save your game at a Save Point.
- 21Head down two flights of stairs and approach some pillars. Leap across the pillars to reach a platform with Aeris. Ascend the stairs.
- 22Attempt to talk to Aeris, but your allies will intervene. Sephiroth appears, and a glowing orb of Materia falls into the water. Sephiroth then throws a piece of Jenova at you.
Boss Battle: Jenova-LIFE
This battle is notably easy. Jenova-LIFE's attacks consume MP, making it possible to use "Magic Hammer" to drain her MP. She will cast "Reflect" the first time you hit her with a spell.
Tips
- When digging in Bone Village, consider hiring fewer excavators if you prefer to dig more freely or if you're confident in your spot.
- The Aurora Armlet is a valuable piece of armor due to its defensive stats and cold absorption.
- Don't miss the hidden Enemy Skill Materia behind the beds in the third house.
- Save your game before approaching the pillars where Aeris is praying.
