Walkthrough
- 1After shaking pursuit, head north-west to find a Save Point, then continue north-west to the next screen.
- 2Continue north-west until you spot yellow light marking an area transition. Since the way to Sector 6 is blocked, head north.
- 3In Sector 5 Slums, you can shop. A nearby pipe contains a man with a #2 tattoo.
- 4The shop to the south-east sells Materia: Fire (600 Gil), Ice (600 Gil), Lightning (600 Gil), and Restore (750 Gil). Stock up on three of each if possible.
- 5Further east is an item shop selling Potions (50 Gil), Phoenix Downs (300 Gil), Antidotes (80 Gil), and Tents (500 Gil).
- 6Head into the house west of the item shop. In the back room, talk to a sleeping kid. Search the dresser, then the drawer between the top and bottom drawers to find 5 Gil. Leave it to reap rewards later.
- 7Search the yellow posters north-west of the dresser to find Turtle’s Paradise News No. 1. Reading this prevents later backtracking.
- 8Head into the bus northwest of the house, which is the weapon shop. It sells Titan Bangles (280 Gil) and Grenades (80 Gil). Consider buying three Titan Bangles for their defensive improvement and two Materia slots.
- 9Exit the house and head to the next screen on the eastern edge of the slums. Use the Save Point.
- 10Ignore the nearby house, go around it, and climb a ladder. In the southern gardens, find Cover Materia. Further east, find an Ether.
- 11Cover Materia is a passive Materia that gives the wielder a chance (20% per level) to intercept attacks intended for allies.
- 12Head into Aeris’s House. Equip Titan Bangles on Cloud and Aeris, and ensure Aeris is equipped with Materia (Restore, Lightning, and Cover are recommended).

- 15After a dream, grab the bag near the door for a Potion and a Phoenix Down.
- 16Make your way to the stairs. Walk, stay away from Aeris’s room door, and exit without being noticed.
- 17Leave the area around Aeris’s House and head through the Sector 5 Slums to the road outside.
- 18Head west to find the hole in the way is no longer blocked.
- 19Head up a wooden ramp, across a perforated metal bridge, around a raised section of road, and down scaffolding to reach lower ground.
- 20Go through a tunnel opposite the scaffolding. Continue north-west around the raised section of road and use a brown pipe as a ramp.
- 21Head down a wooden ramp and exit this area to the north, reaching a playground.
- 22At the playground gate, Cloud and Aeris will chat. If you pick the dialogue option “Go on to Sector 7,” Aeris’s approval will rise a bit (Aeris +1). Picking “Take her home” does nothing.
- 23Talk to Aeris after she wanders off. A wagon will arrive.
