Follow our Final Fantasy VII guide to traverse Mt. Corel, discover hidden treasures like the Wizard Staff and Star Pendant, and navigate the perilous train tracks.
Walkthrough
- 1From Costa del Sol, head south-west, then north-west around a ledge to reach Mt. Corel. Follow the trail through the mountains to find a cave near a river.
- 2Vault over rocks and speak to an old man. Continue uphill to reach the Corel Reactor area.
- 3Head south across train tracks, then follow them south-east to a series of amusement park-like tracks.
- 4As you follow the tracks, you will encounter weak sections. Intentionally falling can lead to treasure: a Wizard Staff to the left and a Star Pendant to the right. To grab these, hold left or right on the directional pad while mashing the [Circle] button (or [OK] on PC) to move.
- 5Continue east along the tracks. When they split, take the upper tracks and fall into a hole to find loot.
- 6Back on the tracks, continue east to find a chest containing a W Machine Gun.
- 7Backtrack west to where the tracks meet the lower path. Follow the lower tracks east, enduring another fall to collect loot.
- 8Continue east until the tracks bisect again. Take the elevated tracks west to find a Turbo Ether and a piece of Transform Materia, separated by another fall.
- 9Return to the bisecting tracks and take the upper tracks east this time. The lower tracks lead to a dead end where you can switch party members.
- 10Navigate left or right when the train tracks give way to collect treasure from the supports.
- 11Follow the tracks east around a blind corner into a shed. Interact with a button to lower a bridge.
- 12Leave the shed and follow the tracks south-east. When you hear birds, walk into the wall to climb it. At the top, you'll find a bird's nest with a treasure chest containing ten Phoenix Downs. Disturbing the nest may trigger a fight with a Cokatolis.
- 13Make your way back west along the tracks, then head east down the lower tracks in the previous screen to reach the area where your allies were waiting.
- 14Follow these tracks to a large rope bridge. Cross the bridge, encountering Bomb enemies.
- 15Arrive in the village of North Corel. Travel south through the ruined village to find Barret.
- 16After speaking with Barret and the locals, proceed south to a market with three stalls. The northern stall sells basic items, the southern stall sells advanced items (including Transform Materia, which can be found earlier), and the western stall sells Carbon Bangles, the Force Stealer, and Molotovs.
- 17You can rest for 50 Gil in the top-most shack to recover HP/MP.
- 18Head west of the shops to continue your journey.
Tips
- The Wizard Staff is a weapon for Aeris with Double AP Growth, though it has less Attack and one fewer Materia slot than the Striking Staff.
- The W Machine Gun is a weapon with Double AP Growth, but less Attack and one fewer Materia slot than the Atomic Scissors.
- The Transform Materia can be found on the train tracks, so you don't need to buy it from the shop in North Corel for 5000 Gil.
- If you choose to take the Phoenix Downs from the bird's nest, be prepared to fight a Cokatolis.
- The shops in North Corel offer a variety of items, including Potions, Phoenix Downs, Tents, Transform Materia, various status-healing items, Carbon Bangles, the Force Stealer weapon, and Molotovs.
