The Earth Dragon

Alright, so after you've dealt with the Opera House shenanigans, you'll need to head into the switch room. It's just northeast of where you spoke with the Impresario. Don't worry too much about the weird orchestra playing despite a dragon being nearby – it's just one of those quirky Final Fantasy VI things!

Once you're in the switch room, find the second switch from the right and flip it. This is going to trigger the fight with the Earth Dragon itself!

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Attacks: Basic Attack, Honed Tusk (powerful physical, often a counter), Quake, Landslide, Magnitude 8, 50 Gs (cancels Float).
• Weaknesses: Sleep, Slow.
• Resistances: Wind/Aero, Water (unless Strago is present).

Strategy:

• Start the battle by casting buffs like Kirin, Fenrir, and Hastega. These will shore up your defenses and speed.
• For offensive Espers, Bismarck and Leviathan are solid choices.
• If you have Strago, Flood or Aero spells can be effective. Otherwise, focus on non-elemental magic like Ultima or Flare. Shadow's Water Scrolls or Mog's Water Rondo/Wind Rhapsody can also work if you have them.
• Crucially, keep Float active on your party! This is your best defense against the dragon's earth-shattering attacks like Quake, Landslide, and Magnitude 8. With Float up, the fight becomes much more manageable.
• Casting Sleep and Slow on the dragon early on will significantly reduce the damage you take and give you breathing room to unleash your own powerful attacks, like Tempest.
• Don't forget that 50 Gs can cancel Float, so be prepared to reapply it if needed.

Honestly, once you have Float up and maybe Sleep/Slow applied, this fight is pretty straightforward. Just keep up the pressure and you'll have it down in no time!
