Guide to The Collapsing House in Tzen for Final Fantasy VI. Find the Healing Rod, Holy Rod, Ether, Hyper Wrist, Blood Sword, and Magicite Shard while avoiding monster chests.

Alright, so you've made it to Tzen and there's this house that's, well, collapsing! Don't worry, we'll get through it and snag some sweet loot. The main thing to keep in mind here is that there are some chests that will trigger a fight, and you'll want to be quick if you decide to open them, especially since you're on a timer.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
As soon as you enter the house, head north. You'll find a chest containing a Healing Rod. Grab it!
  2. 2
Now, make your way southwest into the next room. There's another chest here with a Holy Rod inside.
  3. 3
Exit that room and head west to find yet another room. Go inside and open the chest for an Ether.
  4. 4
After that, make your way to the southwestern corner of the current area. You'll find a chest containing a Hyper Wrist.
  5. 5
Next, go into the western room and head downstairs. There's a chest near the stairs. Opening this one triggers a battle, so only do it if you're confident you have enough time to spare. If you do fight, you'll get the Blood Sword.
  6. 6
From there, go to the northeast corner of this downstairs area. Another chest awaits, this one holding a Magicite Shard.
  7. 7
You'll notice a fireplace with a kid nearby. Just grab him – don't worry about the 'why' for now!
  8. 8
There's one more chest west of the fireplace. This one also triggers a battle, so again, only open it if you have time.
  9. 9
Once you've grabbed everything you want, backtrack through the house to the entrance and exit.
Tips
  • You've got about four minutes to get through this place, so keep an eye on the clock!
  • The monsters inside the house are generally easier than those out in the overworld, and they give out a decent amount of Gil, which is always good.
  • If you encounter a Zokka, Bismarck is your best bet against it.
  • For Scorpions, it's usually best to just run away unless you have the Black Belt equipped, then you can try fighting them with regular Attacks.
  • Be cautious of the monster chests! Unless you can finish the fight really quickly, it might be better to skip them to save time.
