Master the Antlion boss fight in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Learn its weaknesses, attack patterns, and strategies for Cycles Two and Three.
Walkthrough
- 1The Antlion is a supersized traditional Final Fantasy enemy.
- 2It is weak to Fire and Holy, good against Blizzard, and best against Gravity (though Gravity only works once).
- 3Start the fight by using Gravity to deal significant damage.
- 4After Gravity, switch to Blizzaga (using Blizzard Stones).
- 5The Antlion has four main attacks:
- 6Pincer Snap: Occurs when facing its front. Deals heavy damage (3+ hearts) and knocks you back. NEVER face the front; stay at its sides or behind it.
- 7Sand Breath: Inhales wind, then exhales sand. Does not damage but can petrify. Use this opportunity to charge and cast Blizzaga as it only faces one direction.
- 8Shockwave: Sends pinchers to the ground, releasing a shockwave around it. Deals serious damage if you are close.
- 9Blue Lasers & Scorpions: Occurs when HP is low. Shoots two blue lasers in front that cause heavy damage. Move to the sides to avoid. Regular Scorpions will also emerge, poisoning your character. Casting Blizzaga on the Antlion can hit and freeze Scorpions. Two Blizzaga attacks will defeat a Scorpion.
- 10Ensure you have at least eight hearts for the battle.
- 11When curing yourself, run out of harm's way.
- 12NEVER stand in front of the Antlion; always face its side or back for safety.
- 13Cycles Two and Three: The Antlion's attack, defense, and speed increase. More Scorpions will appear. High magic is recommended for Blizzaga to remain effective.
- 14After defeating the Antlion, you will receive a drop of Myrrh. (Note: Year 5 only yields two Myrrh drops before heading to the Abyss).
- 15To progress after choosing your artifact for Lynari Desert, you need to reach the Abyss. However, the Jegon River has dried up, blocking access to the Plains of Fum and subsequently Rebena Plains.
- 16You have two choices:
- 17Head to Veo Lu Sluice to revive the flowers and refill the river.
- 18Finish Year 5 with three Myrrh drops, then collect six more to reach Year 8, at which point the Jegon River will refill naturally.
- 19Refilling the Jegon River (Quicker Method):
- 20Exit Lynari Isle via the ferry in Leuda and go to Port Tipa.
- 21Travel into the Miasma Stream (requires the Holy Element for your chalice).
- 22Navigate through the Miasma Stream in Iron Mine Downs and Vale of Alfitaria.
- 23In Veo Lu, go to Veo Lu Sluice.
- 24In Veo Lu Sluice, all river areas will be dried up, granting access to eight treasure chests containing rare artifacts.
- 25Locate and use Life on the six special "Pumpflower Plants" in this area. Reviving all six will completely refill the Jegon River, preventing it from drying up again.
- 26The guide will not detail dried lake locations, assuming familiarity.
- 27Note that enemies are stronger and artifacts are rarer in Cycle Two.
- 28Follow the directions to find Pumpflower Plants and switches:
- 29From the start, go south, then north, then west.
- 30Enter the dry lake, open chests, and cast Life on the large plant.
- 31Head west, then south to find a switch.
- 32Revive the dead plant next to the switch using Life.
- 33A key will emerge from the water spout after activating the switch.
- 34Take the key south, then east to the ped...
