Walkthrough:
- Defeat the Lava Mu and Blazer Beetle.
- Head north and go left at the split.
- Continue north into the next area. Immediately defeat the Goblin with the sword.
- Head south a little and east, then defeat the second Goblin.
- Return to where you defeated the first Goblin and head north. You will encounter Coeurls, Lamias, Lava Ahrimans, Lava Mu, and Orges.
- Search the area for three treasure chests. Do not proceed to the light orange areas until all chests are collected.
- Prepare good spells and enter one of the three light orange areas to initiate the boss fight.
BOSS: Iron Giant
At the start, Goblins will bring swords to the Iron Giant. The number of swords depends on how many Goblins you defeated. The Iron Giant will take the swords and then kill one Goblin before the rest flee.
Stats / Weaknesses:
- Not affected by Thunder, Slow, Stop, or Gravity.
- Holy does a lot of damage.
- Physical 1-2-3 Combo attacks are the most effective.
Phases:
- With a Sword: The Iron Giant has three sword-based attacks:
- Regular combo swipe (horizontal and vertical).
- Slamming the sword onto the ground, causing a shockwave.
- A rare, high-damage attack where a spinning purple disc is released after a swipe.
- Without a Sword: The Iron Giant will attack with its electrical move.
- Cycles Two and Three: Starting with cycle two, the Iron Giant will cast a large spell resembling the Milky Way Galaxy when it does not have a sword. Run away as far as possible to avoid this attack.
Strategy:
- The 1-2-3 Combo attack is the most effective method to bring down its HP.
- When the Iron Giant uses its sword attacks, back away and cure if necessary.
- For the spinning purple disc attack, run left or right quickly to avoid it.
- You can choose to defeat the two Goblins or ignore them.
- When the Iron Giant loses a sword, it will attack without one before jumping to get another.
- If no swords are left, it will use its electric move. Keep running in, slashing, and retreating to heal.
- A quicker, but riskier, method is to slash until your health is very low, then heal. This requires a Phoenix Down and high defense.
- For cycles two and three, run away from the large galaxy-like spell.
After defeating the Iron Giant, you will receive your Myrrh drop. Respond to the letter and choose to travel to the East side of the Jegon River.
After the boss fight, you will be asked to choose your artifact and then which side of the Jegon River to travel to. Select the East side.
You will then head out of the Jegon River onto the Iron Mine Downs. Proceed to Marr's Pass for any necessary preparations, then go to the Mushroom Forest. Change your element to water and return to the Jegon River. Sail to the west side for 50 gil to reach the Plains of Fum. Travel west to the Miasma Stream and cross it to enter the Rebena Plains. The Rebena Plains contains Conall Church and Rebena Te Ra, the next dungeons for Myrrh. It also contains the Holy Miasma Stream, which requires the Holy Element (unavailable until next year) and leads to the Abyss.
