Follow this Fallout 2 guide to navigate Gecko, obtain keycards from the Nuclear Plant, and find the missing Woody in the Junkyard.
Walkthrough
- 1Enter Gecko and go to the building labeled "manager's office."
- 2Examine the desk to find two clipboards.
- 3Examine the shelf in the left hall to find a book about science.
- 4Talk to Harold, the ghoul in the primary room next to the desk. Ask him what he does, and he will mention the reactor is not working well and he needs a Hydroelectric Magnetosphere.
- 5Talk to Lenny, the ghoul to Harold's left, to recruit him as an NPC. He can also heal you.
- 6Head east to the Nuclear Plant.
- 7Navigate north and east within the plant to find a room with a ghoul behind lockers.
- 8Talk to the ghoul (shaved head) and tell him you have something to pick up.
- 9Ask for a three-step plasma transformer and give him the part request form from the clipboard.
- 10Leave the room and go east to a room with a rusted locker.
- 11Open the locker and take the yellow keycard.
- 12Head to the southern part of the reactor. Use the yellow keycard to open the yellow door.
- 13Go to the room with a shelf, examine it, and take the red keycard.
- 14Replace the yellow keycard with the red keycard in your item slot.
- 15Go east and talk to Festus, the ghoul in the southeasternmost room.
- 16Tell Festus the reactor isn't running well and that Vault City is complaining about groundwater. He will dismiss your concerns.
- 17Leave the reactor and go to the Junkyard to the north.
- 18Go to the Survival Gear center and talk to the shopkeeper.
- 19Ask what's happening, and he will mention his friend Woody is missing. Offer to find Woody.
- 20Go to the northwest and enter the large building.
- 21Talk to the ghoul there, who offers to fix one of your weapons in exchange for finding a three-step plasma transformer. You can upgrade a .44 Magnum speed loader or an assault rifle ammo magazine.
- 22After getting your weapon upgrade, leave for Vault City.
NPC Information:
- Lenny: With 129 HP, he is durable. His forte is the Doctor skill, allowing him to heal you. He can use SMGs and pistols, performing best with an H&K G11/G11E or the .223 Pistol. He is not considered a top-tier NPC for the long run.
Tips
- The science book found in the manager's office can be used to increase your Science skill.
- The speed loader for the .44 Magnum or the ammo magazine upgrade for the assault rifle are good options for weapon enhancement.
