A guide to the worst companions in Fallout 2, including Lenny, K-9, Dogmeat, Cyber-Dog, Myron, Miria, and Davin, with their stats and recruitment tips.

This guide covers some of the less-than-ideal NPC companions available in Fallout 2. While some may have niche uses or nostalgic appeal, most are not recommended for your party.

Lenny

  • Hit points: 126 hp
  • Carry weight: 125 lbs
  • Melee damage: 1 hp
  • Action points: 7
  • Skills: Doctor
  • Weapons: SMG's only

Lenny, a ghoul from Necropolis, can be recruited in Gecko. He's decent with SMGs and has a good amount of HP, but is otherwise average and not very helpful early on. He can wear armor. Recruitment is not strongly recommended.

K-9

  • Hit points: 127 hp
  • Carry weight: n/a
  • Melee damage: 16 hp
  • Action points: 14
  • Skills: Unarmed
  • Weapons: Teeth

K-9, found in Navarro, is the strongest of the canine NPCs. However, his melee attack might be underpowered by the time players reach Navarro, and his armor is only as tough as metal armor, making him a poor choice late-game.

Dogmeat

  • Hit points: 98 hp
  • Carry weight: n/a
  • Melee damage: 14 hp
  • Action points: 15
  • Skills: Unarmed
  • Weapons: Teeth

Dogmeat, who returns from the original Fallout, can be recruited at the Cafe of Broken Dreams by removing your armor and approaching him. He has more action points than K-9 but deals less damage and is more fragile. Recommended only for nostalgia.

Cyber-Dog

  • Hit points: 97 hp
  • Carry weight: n/a
  • Melee damage: 10 hp
  • Action points: 9
  • Skills: Unarmed
  • Weapons: Teeth

The Cyber Dog, found in NCR after injecting mutagenic serum into a super mutant, is visually similar to K-9 but significantly weaker. It has slightly more HP than Dogmeat and armor, but its low action points and damage make it a poor companion.

Myron

  • Hit points: 70 hp
  • Carry weight: n/a
  • Melee damage: 1 hp
  • Action points: 8
  • Skills: Science
  • Weapons: Needler Pistol, PPK12 Gauss Rifle

Myron, Mordino's chief scientist and creator of Jet, can be recruited by talking to him. He is good at Science but inept in combat, often hitting allies. He can only use two weapons. He can be annoying with a male character or hilarious with a female character. Passing on him is advised.

Miria / Davin

  • Hit points: 35 hp
  • Carry weight: 100 lbs (Miria) / 125 lbs (Davin)
  • Melee damage: 1 hp
  • Action points: 7
  • Skills: Unarmed
  • Weapons: Knives, SMG's (Miria) / Knives, Pistols (Davin)

Miria and Davin, children of Grisham, are the weakest NPCs with only 35 HP. They can be married (leading to becoming a widower) or sold to Vault City. They are slightly better in combat than Myron but still not great. It is highly recommended to pass them up. A male character can only marry Miria; a female character can marry either. Divorcing in New Reno changes your title to divorced.
