Walkthrough
- 1Enter Vault City during the day. Head north, then turn right at the bar and speak to the crying child.
- 2Find the Mr. Nixon doll near the bar's exterior wall by some old boxes and return it to the child (Curtis) for experience.
- 3Listen to Curtis's conversation to learn about a wrench in a rock pile.
- 4Go east to the rock pile and examine it to find the wrench.
- 5Enter the tent next to you and speak to the worried woman. Offer to find her husband, Joshua, who is in the servant allocation center.
- 6Enter the clinic to the north and go to the room with the Auto-Doc (a contraption).
- 7Repair the Auto-Doc using the tool.
- 8Go south and west, then enter the shack north of the jail. Speak to the man in the green shirt and ask about his flask and Vault 13 for experience.
- 9Go to the tent across from the clinic with a farmer outside. Ask about his work in Vault City, then offer to buy him a plow.
- 10Go to Happy Harry's store (marked by a happy face) and buy a plow from Harry, arranging for delivery to the Smiths.
- 11Return to the tent next to the clinic and speak to Mr. Smith to receive a Desert Eagle and experience.
- 12Head north to Downtown.
- 13Enter the Customs building to the right. Speak to Skeev in the first room.
- 14Ask Skeev about the place, your desire to go into the Vault, and "other ways."
- 15Threaten to tell others about him selling citizenship papers. He will offer to sell them to you.
- 16Buy the forged citizenship papers from Skeev for an undisclosed amount of cash.
- 17Make a sarcastic remark to Skeev, then demand payment for your silence. He will give you $300.
- 18Present your citizenship papers to the gate guard to enter.
- 19Go to the Tap House on the right and speak to Lydia, the bar owner.
- 20Tell Lydia that real alcohol is superior to synthetic alcohol and give her the alcohol for $300 and experience.
- 21Head to the maintenance center and speak to Valerie in metal armor.
- 22Offer to help Valerie with her missing tools and give her pliers and a wrench for experience and $50.
- 23Go to the Amenities office (left of the Repair Shop) and speak to Randal in a vault suit.
- 24Present your citizenship papers to Randal.
- 25Purchase a combat shotgun, 12 ga. shells, and books using your money and excess weaponry. If you have Sulik and intend to keep him, barter for an SMG.
- 26Head to the Corrections Center and speak to the man in metal armor.
- 27Offer to do recon work by scouting the eight sectors around Gecko.
- 28Go to the Servant Allocation Center and speak to the man in the vault suit.
- 29Tell him Joshua has a contagious disease and provide more information. If your Speech skill is above 90%, he will believe you; otherwise, you must buy him out.
- 30After getting Joshua, head to the Information Center (to your left).
- 31Speak to the man in the vault suit and ask about books or manuals.
- 32Tell him you prefer reading a physical book over an electronic screen to receive free books.
- 33Go outside and to the left to find a man in green. Accept his optional quest to deliver a briefcase to the Bishop family in New Reno.
- 34Head to the City Council building (north and slightly left).
- 35Enter the Council building and speak to Lynette, the First Citizen.
Tips
- The Combat Shotgun is a powerful all-around weapon, dealing up to 85 hit points of damage with targeted shots and 10-30 with regular shots. It also has a burst mode.
- If your Speech skill is not high enough (above 90%), you will need to pay to get Joshua out of the Servant Allocation Center.
- NPCs (non-player characters) may become less useful later in the game.
