Prepare for Dragonlord's Castle in Dragon Quest II! Gather gold, equip your party with the best gear like the Cloak of Evasion, and sail to the final dungeon.

Alright, so we're heading into the Dragonlord's Castle! This is the final dungeon from the first Dragon Quest game, and it's optional here in DQ2, but definitely worth checking out. Before we make the big trip, let's make sure our party is ready.

First things first, we need to get to Tantegel. Once you're there, check your gold. If you have at least 1783G, you'll want to sell the Princess's Plain Clothes. With that gold, buy her a Cloak of Evasion. This should leave you with enough left over for a night at the Inn. If you don't quite have the gold, don't sweat it! Just sail around Tantegel for a bit or do some grinding in the hills north of Rippleport until you hit that amount. While you're at the Item Shop, it's never a bad idea to grab a few Medicinal Herbs – you know, just in case.

Also, make sure you've got your Silver Key with you. You'll need it to get into some areas.

Recommended Party Setup

Once your party's geared up and ready, hop on your Ship and sail across the water to the southern castle. This is the Dragonlord's Castle, and it's a pretty significant place, being the final area from the original Dragon Quest!

When you enter the Dragonlord's Castle, make your way north and then head down the stairs. We're going in!
