Alright, so you've jumped into Blade & Sorcery and you're looking to tackle the SURLY section. Don't worry, I've got your back. This part can be a bit of a maze if you're not sure where to go or what to look out for, but with a little guidance, you'll be through it in no time. Think of me as your buddy standing next to you, pointing out the important stuff.
First things first, let's get you oriented. You'll start off right outside Runciter's Animals, which is basically a petless pet store. Your spinner will land you right there. Your first move should be to chat up the officer standing guard. Seriously, keep talking to him until he starts repeating himself – you'll need all the info you can get. This is also where you'll learn about your KIA (that's your 'Knowledge, Inventory, and Clues' system). You can bring it up by left-clicking Ray when your gun isn't out. It's super handy for keeping track of clues and suspects.
Before you even step inside, take a good look around the outside area. There are a few key things to click on: the fire hydrant, a shiny piece of chrome right in front of it, and the left side of the doorway. Don't click to go inside yet, just interact with the doorway itself. After that, check out the crowd gathered behind the barricades. You'll tell Officer Leary to interview them, and while he's doing that, it's your cue to head inside the shop.
Once you're inside Runciter's, find Runciter himself and have a good long chat. Use every conversation option available. He'll mention Lucy Devlan and give you some hints. Crucially, he'll eventually walk over to his desk to grab Lucy's reference letter for you. Make sure you get that. Next, look up at the ceiling for a video camera – it's hanging to the left of a big cage and has a little red light. Runciter will hand over a videodisk after some witty remark. Don't forget to scan the ground near the door for some Shell Casings; they're a dark spot that your cursor will highlight when you're close.
Now, head to the back of the store – this is known as Lucy's Corner. You'll want to interact with the Toy Dog (it's a big white thing near the wall), the Chopstick Wrapper (it's under a chair), and the Candy Bar (sitting on a desk). Once you've gathered all that, you can head back outside.
Back outside, have another chat with Officer Leary. He'll have some intel from the crowd interviews – you should get two interviews' worth of info. Click on him twice to get it all. With that done, it's time to hop back into your spinner and set your destination to Police Headquarters.
At the Police Station, head straight for the elevator. Take it to the second floor. This floor is where the action is for analyzing clues. You'll find the ESPER room, which is where you can download your KIA clues to the computer. It's not strictly necessary for progression, but it's good practice to do it every time you visit. After downloading your KIA, click on the center monitor to check out Runciter's surveillance footage. You'll see a picture, and you can use the crosshairs to zoom in on any part of it. Focus on the area next to the TV above the tiger's cage – you'll get a closer look at Lucy and her jewelry. Ray will ask for a hardcopy of this. Then, bring the picture back to its normal view and zoom in on Lucy's desk in the back. You'll spot a sushi menu from Howie Lee's bar in Chinatown. Grab a hardcopy of that too. Now, click the 'X' button in the top left to go back and select the second picture. Zoom in on the shadow in the doorway – this will give you a new suspect. Get a hardcopy of that. Finally, zoom in on the black car behind the suspect for another hardcopy. Once you're done with Runciter's videodisk, you can exit the ESPER room. If you're curious, you can check out the shooting range (the door on the left), but otherwise, head back to the elevator.
Take the elevator up to Floor Three. Here, you'll find Klein in the Laboratory. He's your go-to guy for understanding the clues you've downloaded. He's super informative, so make sure to talk to him while he's available, as he might not always be there. After your chat, head back to the elevator and then up to the Roof.
Back on the roof, jump into your spinner and make your way to Chinatown. Your target is Howie Lee's Sushi Bar. Inside, you'll see a comedian named Gordo in a red outfit at the bar. Chat with him for a bit until he leaves. Then, find Howie Lee, the guy behind the counter (he's the skinny one, not the cook). Use all the conversation options, and then follow Zuben to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, talk to Zuben. You can ask him about Lucy or the VK test. Then, get ready to click like crazy on the right side of the screen. Zuben will try to dump a boiling pot on you, but you'll dodge it (if you don't, it's okay, you'll just get up a bit slower). Your next move is to bolt out the back door, chasing after Zuben.
You'll find yourself in an alley. Run around the corner, and you'll see a hobo chilling next to a dumpster. You have a choice here: you can fight him, or you can ignore him. If you fight him, you can then search the dumpster for a license plate. If you killed the hobo, you can dump his body in the dumpster. Now, you have two ways to deal with Zuben.
Option 1: Killing Zuben in the Warehouse
Head into the door right by the dumpster. Inside the warehouse, go up the stairs on the right. Continue down the dark corridor until you reach the end. Zuben will drop down. You can either take him out or put your gun away and spare him. I usually go for the kill – it's more satisfying! After you deal with him, search his body for a picture. Then, head back downstairs, talk to the cops, and jump back into your spinner to head to your apartment.
Option 2: Killing Zuben in the Alley
If you chose this path, run in the opposite direction from the dumpster, all the way down the alley. Then, jump back into your spinner and head to your apartment. When you get to your apartment building's roof, approach the elevator. Zuben will come at you from the right. You can either kill him or put your gun away to show some sympathy. If you kill him, a guy named Gaff will show up and talk to you. Either way, search Zuben's body for a picture. Then, get into the elevator.
Whichever way you dealt with Zuben, you'll end up back at your apartment. Take the elevator to the middle button, which goes to Ray's room on the 88th floor. Once you're in your room, you'll meet Maggie, your new dog. You can feed her by clicking on the counter if you like. Notice the ESPER machine on the table near the couch – it's just like the one at the police station. Head into Ray's bedroom down the hall. Ray will reflect on the day's events on the balcony, and then you'll regain control. Click on the bed to go to sleep and wrap up Act I.
Act II kicks off with a movie. After that, check your messages – there's a little blinking red light on the wall next to the bathroom. Give Maggie a goodbye (maybe toss her some food first) and head back to the elevator.
Take the elevator to the Roof. From there, hop into your spinner and head towards the Tyrell building – that massive double-pyramid structure on your map. At the Tyrell Headquarters, talk to the security guard at the desk. Use all the conversation options; he'll give you a videodisk and mention Eisenduller's Lab is upstairs. Head to the elevator.
Once you get off the elevator in the DNA Lab, go through the big door in front of you into the Anti-Gravity Lab. Your first task here is to click on the body of Marcus Eisenduller – it's a yellow and orange pixilated thing on the left. Ray will pull a detonator wire from his skull and give you a rundown of how he died. Next, look for a fast food box (a black crate with white boxes) in the center of the room. You'll notice it's from Kingston Kitchen. Nearby, you should find a dog collar – it's tricky to spot, but your cursor will turn green when you're over it. The dog's name is Rikki. Once you've got that, you can leave the lab.
Back in the DNA Lab, click on the computer console. You'll see that someone tried to access restricted files multiple times but failed due to invalid passwords. Click it again, and this time you'll use Rikki's name as the password, granting you access to a sample of NEXUS-6 DNA. Underneath the computer, you'll find a dragonfly earring. Pick it up – it looks a lot like Lucy's, doesn't it? Then, head back to the elevator.
When you get back to the Lobby, you'll run into Crystal Steele. Say hello, and after a brief chat (you only get to pick one of the two conversation threads), leave the building and hop back into your spinner.
Finally, head back to the Police Station roof, enter the elevator, and go to Floor 2. Inside the ESPER room, download your KIA. Then, click on the left monitor...
