Alright, let's talk about how the game keeps tabs on you in Assassin's Creed Syndicate. It's all about how aware the enemies are of your presence, and it's shown by a little ring around your character. Knowing these states will help you stay sneaky or get out of a jam!

There are three main states:

Anonymous (White Ring): This is your default, stealthy state. Guards won't bother you unless you do something really obvious, like getting caught pickpocketing or if they stumble upon a dead body. Basically, if you're not causing trouble, they're not looking for you.

Investigation (Yellow Ring): Uh oh, someone's suspicious! This is shown by a yellow ring and a yellow triangle above a guard's head. They'll start moving towards you. If they get too close and you don't break eye contact or hide, that yellow triangle will fill up and turn red. That means open conflict is about to start. The good news is, if you can quickly break line of sight and duck into a hiding spot (like a haystack or a crowd), they'll usually lose interest and go back to normal.

Conflict (Red Ring): Red means danger! Guards are actively hostile and will attack you on sight. Your options here are to either fight your way out and eliminate everyone, or make a run for it, break line of sight, and then find a good hiding spot until they calm down.

Losing the Heat: Last Known Position

Getting chased by a bunch of Templars or police can really mess up your mission. Luckily, you can lose them. While you're wanted, enemies will show up as red dots on your mini-map. To escape, you need to break line of sight. When you do, the game leaves a ghostly marker of where you were last seen. The enemies will head there to investigate, creating a search area around that spot.

Your goal is to either slip away from this search area without being seen, or to find a hiding spot (like a chair or curtains) and just wait it out for a few moments. Do this successfully, and you'll go back to being Anonymous.

Pro-Tip: The key to managing notoriety is to break line of sight as soon as you're spotted. Don't wait for the yellow to turn red if you can help it. Ducking into a building or a hay cart is your best friend here!
