Complete the Demon Gate main quest and defeat Orc Heroes in Warcraft III: Reforged's Blackrock and Roll, Too! mission. Includes strategy for defense and attack.
Walkthrough
- 1Train one acolyte and two ghouls for harvesting. Upgrade your Necropolis to a Halls of the Dead. Kill a meat wagon to avoid upkeep.
- 2When attacked by a Blademaster and orcs near the star, focus the Blademaster. Use Arthas's Death Coil and Kel'Thuzad's Frost Nova on other units. If Mirror Image is used, hold ALT to display health bars and identify the true Blademaster by its attack target. The Blademaster drops a Manual of Health upon defeat; give it to Arthas.
- 3Build 10-12 Spirit Towers on the north end of your base, arranged in an 'L' shape around the Halls of the Dead in two rows (8 facing each direction, 4 shared) for effective defense against attacks from either direction. The Halls of the Dead also assist in defense.
- 4For the south exit, build 10 Spirit Towers. Consider unsummoning and rebuilding the south Ziggurat for symmetrical defense grid alignment. Heavier defense is recommended here due to Orcs' high damage siege units and Raiders.
- 5Commit resources to building 22 Spirit Towers and defending stray attacks first. Attacks begin light. Keep an eye on the east side of your base for attacks targeting your ghouls. Move your Shade to provide warning for incoming attacks and reposition defense units. Sacrifice another Acolyte and place a Shade at each entrance. Regularly check your radar (minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen)) to anticipate attacks and move heroes to protect Spirit Towers.
- 6Once defenses are established, hotkey your towers on each side to focus on Raiders and Sappers. Sappers can destroy a line of towers quickly, so prioritize them. Shift-command each grid of towers to target Raiders and any siege units within range. Keep heroes, Gargoyles, and the Frost Wyrm on your defense group. Use air units to quickly take out Catapults. Crypt Fiends can also be used if towers are dying frequently.
- 7Build an Altar of Darkness and begin the first two levels of all Graveyard upgrades.
- 8Once the Altar is completed, upgrade your Halls of the Dead to a Black Citadel, then build a Temple of the Damned and a Slaughterhouse.
- 9Research Necromancer and Banshee upgrades, all Graveyard upgrades, and Web for Crypt Fiends. Also research the Disease Cloud upgrade for Meat Wagons.
- 10After the Black Citadel is completed, build a Boneyard. If you still have the initial Frost Wyrm, you may not need to train more, but build the Boneyard to get the Frost Breath upgrade.
- 11Monitor your ghouls. If they have harvested the northwest forest, send them to the west forest. Build another graveyard south of the west path entrance to avoid drawing aggro. Desummon the old graveyard between upgrades. If you have excess gold and lack lumber, research the Ghouls' Frenzy upgrade.
- 12Continue routine defense and upgrades. Watch out for Goblin Sappers; use Death Coil immediately or focus air units on them.
- 13When heroes upgrade, learn Kel'Thuzad's Death and Decay and Arthas's final rank of Unholy Aura.
- 14Monitor your ghouls again. Once upgrades are nearing completion, assemble an attack force with low upkeep.
- 15The first base to attack is directly west of your starting position. A recommended attack group consists of 6 Crypt Fiends, 3 Meat Wagons (loaded with corpses), 6 Necromancers, 2 Banshees, and your Frost Wyrm.
- 16When your food count reaches around 65, kill your Gargoyles. With four Ghouls, six Acolytes, and two Shades, this keeps you just under 70 food without Gargoyles.
Tips
- The Frost Wyrm has a building-freezing effect, useful for defense, but it consumes a high amount of food and is slow, making zerging ineffective. Use it for defense until towers are up and to eliminate siege units.
- When the Blademaster uses Mirror Image, holding ALT reveals health bars, helping to identify the true Blademaster.
- The radar (minimap) is crucial for early detection of attacks.
- Hotkeying towers allows them to focus on priority targets like Raiders and Sappers.
- Prioritize researching upgrades for Necromancers, Banshees, Graveyards, Crypt Fiends (Web), and Meat Wagons (Disease Cloud).
- If gold is scarce near the end of upgrades, the first base to attack is relatively weak.
- If you have too much gold and no lumber, the Ghouls' Frenzy upgrade can assist.
- Goblin Sappers are a significant threat to defenses and should be dealt with immediately.
- When assembling an attack force, consider a composition of Crypt Fiends, Meat Wagons, Necromancers, Banshees, and the Frost Wyrm.
- Adjusting your unit composition by removing Gargoyles when reaching a certain food count can help manage upkeep.
- Main Quest: Demon Gate
- Optional Quests: Kill Throk Feroth, Kill Mazrigos, Kill Khanzo, Kill Genjuros.
- Defeating the first Blademaster yields a Manual of Health.
