Guide to completing the Enemies at the Gate mission in Warcraft III: Reforged, including how to entangle a gold mine and slay the Paladin.
Walkthrough
- 1Move your tree (a type of base building) near the gold mine and use the 'entangle gold mine' ability. Train one more wisp (a worker unit) and send your current wisps to gather lumber briefly until the mine is entangled.
- 2Once the mine is entangled, send all 5 of your wisps to the gold mine and train three more wisps from the Tree of Life (your main base structure).
- 3Use the first wisp to construct a Moon Well (a healing structure) and send the next two wisps to gather lumber.
- 4Once the Moon Well is complete, train 5 more wisps and send them all to gather lumber until you have enough lumber to build an Ancient of War (a unit production building). Use a wisp to build the Ancient of War.
- 5Once you have sufficient resources, build more Moon Wells. After the Ancient of War is constructed, start training Archers (ranged combat units).
- 6After training 5 Archers, the main quest to 'Slay the Paladin' becomes active. Before doing that, head southeast out of your base and slightly south until you see a Furbolg path to your left. Follow it to the Furbolg with an exclamation point to receive an optional quest to locate 10 Missing Furbolgs and return Tyrande (a hero unit) to the Furbolg Shaman.
- 7Return to your base and continue training Archers up to 70 food supply (unit limit). Build more Moon Wells as needed.
- 8While training, exit your base to the left and take the north path. Follow it and make a right at the fork to find three more Archers. Bring them back to your base.
- 9Take Tyrande and 11 Archers out the west side of your base to search for missing Furbolgs. You will be attacked by humans and orcs, but your trained Archers can handle these encounters.
- 10Head north outside your base and follow the path as it curves left. At the top of this curve are the first two Furbolgs.
- 11Return to the front of your base and head southwest until you reach the water. Turn right and follow the waterline southeast until you reach a path to cross. Follow this path down across the river to locate two more Furbolgs. You can also break a crate near the huts for a Ring of Protection +1 (an item that increases armor).
- 12Exit this area to the left and head north along the water. After crossing the water, take the path heading northwest, past the Fountain of Health (a healing structure). Briefly enter the small outpost on the northeast side of the path and defeat the orcs there.
- 13(Optional) When Tyrande levels up, prioritize the 'Trueshot Aura' ability for a damage buff and 'Searing Arrows' as a secondary ability. Avoid leveling the 'Owl Scout' ability first.
- 14Exit the outpost and move west. When you reach the water, head along the path to the north and destroy the small human lumber post.
- 15Continue all the way north and make a right up the incline. Defeat the raiders and rescue three more Furbolgs.
- 16Head back out and move west across the river. On the other side, head north to find two more Furbolgs. Your initial gold mine may be depleted or collapsed, but you can harvest the gold mine south of your base near the Furbolg camp if needed, though it's not essential.
- 17After finding these two Furbolgs, head south out of this area and follow the path into another small outpost. Destroy it, cross the river to your south, and head left at the end to find the final Furbolg.
- 18Send Tyrande back to the Furbolg questgiver to receive some Furbolg units.
- 19Send all your Archers and Furbolgs with Tyrande southwest to the front of the human/orc base. Ensure you have two full groups of units (Archers, Tyrande, and Furbolgs).
- 20The most convenient entrance is the east one. Attack command your units to the river where this entrance is.
- 21Once your units are gathered, send one Archer into the base to attack the Paladin once to make him use his 'Shield' ability.
- 22Immediately after, send the rest of your units in and focus all attacks on the Paladin. Continue attacking until his shield drops, then focus him down to complete the mission.
Tips
- Night Elves have an efficient lumber harvesting method.
- Focus Tyrande's abilities on 'Trueshot Aura' for damage and 'Searing Arrows' for secondary use.
- The 'Owl Scout' ability is generally considered less useful.
- You can find a 'Ring of Protection +1' by breaking a crate near some huts.
- The gold mine south of your base near the Furbolg camp is an alternative if your initial mine runs low.
