Valkyria Chronicles 4 Part 21 walkthrough covering Soul of the Navy and Skirmish missions. Learn strategies to save command points and manage RNG.
Walkthrough
- 1For the upper shock by the fence, consider distracting it instead of killing it to save a command point. The South scout facing south is not a significant threat.
- 2Minerva can perform a surprise attack on the ace by throwing a grenade. Normally, she is spotted when on the bridge, preventing this. However, if you exhaust her AP, she will slouch, lowering her hit/sight box, which turns enemy sightlines blue and allows a surprise attack.
- 3Grenadiers can also achieve a surprise attack on the ace, but the shot is less reliable due to potential hits on the cliff or fence.
- 4Turn 1: Minerva gets a surprise grenade kill on the lower scout. The two lower Grenadiers kill two shocks each and face away to avoid affecting the incoming engineer.
- 5Turn 2: Minerva moves south, spotting and killing enemies, including a shock, and stops by the fence shock. Riley follows by killing a sniper and distracting the fence shock, allowing Minerva to move south, kill the second sniper, and surprise kill the ace. The lower Grenadiers advance towards the goal, eliminating enemies.
- 6You might save a command point by not destroying the Gatling turret on turn one with Minerva, though this was not tested.
- 7Squad Story - Soul of the Navy (4t): The most reliable method is heading southeast then cutting west through the middle, rather than going up and around. The latter is simpler but can lead to enemy shock(s) near the south ladder reaching the goal if too many enemy dodges occur.
- 8Andre is equipped with a telescope for long-range tosses to clear the lower level. Lances are used to break sandbags when necessary. The tier 5 Royal lance with marksman gloves has the highest accuracy. Brian is equipped with volatile powder for easier infantry elimination.
- 9Achieving team attacks from lower elevations can be difficult. Generally, the further back you are, the more likely your unit is to participate. Standing near the goal often works.
- 10Explosive attacks like grenades and mortars cannot be dodged by enemies if the attacker is not spotted, even if a "surprise attack" is not indicated. This map is good for this tactic; get out of sight and throw grenades down.
- 11Normally, firing a lance at a sniper's sandbag will trigger a counterattack and interception fire. To prevent this, perform a target swap so the targeting system believes Sergio is firing at Andre when aiming at the sandbag. Andre is positioned safely as the lance projects past him.
- 12A major threat on turn 2 is the shock above the southmost ladder, which rushes the goal. To stop it if you cannot kill it, stand directly underneath the ladder (this works with any ladder) or create a two-person blockade on the bridge to make the AI path around.
- 13The mission can end with up to 3 command points to spare, even after multiple attempts on the enemy ace. This stage has more RNG than usual due to fewer surprise attacks, potential long-range rifle misses, and lances not hitting sandbags.
- 14Turn 1: Brian uses direct command, moving others right and grenading the crouched engineer. Andre kills the southeast scout and positions for the target swap. Sergio fires at the sniper sandbag, targeting Andre, completing the swap. Brian moves to Andre and kills the sniper. Andre grenades a lower-level scout. Brian and Andre are positioned to interception fire on the enemy ace, slightly reducing its health.
- 15Turn 2: Andre grenades the ace and moves next to Brian. Brian uses direct command again, bringing them down the ladder to kill the nearby scout. Sergio destroys the scout's sandbag. Avoid positioning your scout and engineer too far forward, as they might fire on the upper shock, causing it to stop and crouch on a sandbag.
- 16Turn 3: Prioritize the previously crouched scout and any shock moving towards the south ladder. Start with the scout, then kill shocks below the ladder, followed by the shock above it. If command points are low, blockade the ladder to prevent the shock above from climbing down. This kill order offers the highest survival chance.
- 17Side shocks are not high priority. You can leave them alive on turn 3 and kill them with surprise attacks on turn 4 via grenades or flanking, but risk running out of AP.
- 18Turn 4: Kill any remaining shocks. Clear towards the crouched shock and scout in the Northwest. Kill the scout first, then the grenade and kill the crouched shock to finish. Be careful not to hit the shock when firing at the scout, as it will turn around.

- 20Valkyria Chronicles 4 No Reload C.Run Skirmish 1-6 Normal (2/2t): Skirmish 01 Normal can be completed in 1 turn. Curtis was deliberately downed to recruit Eileen. Jester was used to clear the rest of the mission for his squad story unlock.
- 21Valkyria Chronicles 4 No Reload C.Run Skirmish 7-8 Normal (2/2t): Skirmish 7 is unremarkable; keep tanks out of the open. Skirmish 8 is the first non-pushover skirmish.
Tips
- Consider distracting enemies instead of killing them to conserve command points.
- Utilize Minerva's AP exhaustion for surprise attacks on the ace.
- Explosive attacks are effective for un-dodgable damage when out of enemy sight.
- Perform target swaps to safely eliminate snipers guarding sandbags.
- Use ladder blockades or multi-unit blockades to halt enemy advances.
- Be aware of the increased RNG on the 'Soul of the Navy' map and adjust strategies accordingly.
- In Skirmishes, keep armored units protected and be prepared for increased difficulty in later skirmishes like Skirmish 8.
