    Spin Dash through the walls and proceed past the Starpost.

    When a wall starts moving towards you, Spin Dash through more walls and drop down.

    Grab the 1-Up and drop down.

    Knuckles will press a switch, causing the bridge you are standing on to collapse. Drop down and proceed through the passageway.

    Let go of the bars and head past the Starpost. Robotnik will appear in the center of the screen.

When the machine charges towards you, Spin Dash in the opposite direction to evade its attack. After a while, the machine will connect itself to the pillar directly above you and start creating a whirlpool. Attack the machine now to destroy it. If the machine takes off again, wait until it reconnects itself to the pillar before finishing it off.

Tips
  • If you've played Sonic The Hedgehog 3 on its own, you'll notice that the spring has been replaced with a 1-Up!
  • Grab the Invinibility in the passageway to the left before descending the slopes.
  • When the machine creates a whirlpool, attack it to destroy it.
  • If the machine takes off again, wait until it reconnects itself to the pillar before finishing it off.
