You'll start off heading right. Keep going past those stalactites.

See that moving spiked platform? It can be a bit tricky. The best way to get past it is to wait for it to rise, then immediately Spin Dash after it. This should give you enough momentum to clear it.

Next up is a waterfall of lava with a drilling machine nearby. Stick to the left side of the screen here to stay safe.

Eventually, the ground in the center of the screen will collapse. Normally, you'd drop down and take the southern path, but we're going to do something different! Instead, take the northern path. This will put you on Sonic's main route through the Act.

If you head left for a bit and then turn right, you'll notice the drilling machine is gone. From here, you can jump to the right and start climbing up some steps. Watch out for the flamethrowers as you ascend!

At the top, press the switch. This will reveal a hidden exit to your right. Go through it.

Head right and press another switch. Go through the opening that appears.

Now, make your way down the steps. You'll cross another waterfall of lava – just keep moving! Press the switch on the other side.

Go through the opening and head right. You can attack the drilling machine if you want, but it's not necessary. It'll just fall into the lava and be destroyed anyway.

When you land after that section, hop across the rocks and press the switch.

Climb up the steps and use a Spin Dash to go upwards.

Spin Dash through some boulders, and then use the moving spiked platform again.

As the platform reaches its highest point, jump to the right. You'll pass through a fake wall and find a hidden room containing the Giant Ring! Congrats!

Tips

The Spin Dash is your best friend for crossing tricky gaps and breaking through obstacles in this Act. Make sure you have a good feel for its momentum.
Don't get too caught up fighting the drilling machine; it's easier to just let it fall into the lava.
The hidden exit is key here, so pay attention to those switches and openings!
