When you encounter the machine disguised as a Prison Egg, jump on the plunger to reveal two spiked arms. To defeat this Mini-Boss, you must make it attack itself. Position Sonic on the plunger and wait for one of the spiked arms to move towards you. When it does, run off the plunger. The machine will be hit by its own spiked arm instead.
