Camera

As a survival horror game, Silent Hill 3 features variable and obscure camera angles that can make navigation difficult. You can often adjust the camera, including moving it behind Heather by holding L2 and using the right stick. This is useful for combat and general awareness. Pay attention to camera angle changes as they can hint at items or environmental details.

Using Maps

Maps are crucial for navigation, with each area typically having its own map found early on. Press Triangle to view the map, showing your current location and points of interest on the current floor. Use the left analog stick to switch floors. Heather marks open doors as arrows, locked doors as solid lines, impassable doors as squiggly lines, and other points of interest with markings. Frequent map checking is encouraged for reorientation.

Using the Radio and Flashlight

These series staples are found early in the mall. The Radio emits static to alert you to nearby monsters, and the Flashlight illuminates dark areas and helps pick up certain items. Radio volume can be adjusted or turned off in the inventory for stealth. The Flashlight can be toggled on/off with Circle, useful for avoiding enemies in dark hallways.
