Learn to counter Sekiro's unique and perilous attacks: Sweeps, Thrusts, Grabs, and Lightning. Master dodging, jumping, and the Mikiri Counter to survive.
During combat, enemies in Sekiro can perform special abilities called Perilous Attacks. When an enemy is about to perform a Perilous Attack, a red Kanji symbol appears over Sekiro's head to indicate danger. To defend against these attacks, Sekiro must use a specific defensive technique. There are four types of Perilous Attacks: Sweep, Thrust, Grab, and Lightning.
For a Sweep Attack, Sekiro cannot guard or deflect it. To avoid damage, Sekiro can either jump or step dodge. Additionally, jumping off an enemy's head while they are sweeping can deal significant Posture damage.
In the case of a Thrust Attack, Sekiro cannot guard it. The best defense is to deflect the attack, but using the Mikiri Counter technique can deal even more Posture damage.
Grab Attacks cannot be guarded or deflected. However, a well-timed step dodge or jump can help Sekiro avoid them.
