Unlock the full potential of the Player Search System (PSS) in Pokémon X and Y. Learn about Passersby, Acquaintances, Friends, Battle Spot, Wonder Trade, GTS, and O-Powers.
Walkthrough
- 1Access the PSS from the bottom (touch) screen.
- 2Touch the blue circular button at the top to connect to or disconnect from the Internet.
- 3Touch the button to the left of the Internet button to open PSS options.
- 4Understand player designations: Passersby (detected via Local Wireless/Internet), Acquaintances (Passersby you've interacted with), and Friends (players with shared 3DS/2DS friend codes).
- 5When a player is selected and active, you can: Check Profile, Battle, Trade, View Trainer PR Video, or Send O-Power.
- 6If the player is a Friend, you can also use Game Chat.
- 7To switch between PSS pages, touch the arrow on the left or right side.
- 8On the first page, you can: Battle, Trade (locally or online), use Battle Spot (random trainer battles), Wonder Trade (trade for a random Pokémon), send a Shout-Out (short text message), or access the Holo Caster (receive Poké Miles from StreetPass, news via SpotPass).
- 9On the second page, you can: use the GTS (Global Trade Station) for Pokémon trades, use Game Sync (synchronize with Pokémon Global Link), use O-Powers (temporary stat boosts or benefits, usually lasting 3 minutes), manage your Favourites List, edit your Profile (icon, text message, questionnaire), and adjust PSS Settings (e.g., disable Passersby).
- 10To exit the PSS, press the “Return” button in the bottom-right corner or press the B button.
Tips
- The PSS is used frequently by sociable trainers.
- The GTS is useful if you don't know other players or dislike haggling with random Passersby.
- O-Powers can temporarily boost stats, reduce shop prices, or make catching Pokémon easier.
- Shout-Outs can be used to attract attention on the main PSS screen.
