Mulch Crafting:

Mulch can be crafted in the composters located in the northwest and southeast corners of the field. By tossing in three Berries, you will receive three units of a specific mulch type. Applying mulch around Berry plots can alter their growth conditions.

• Boost Mulch: Created with two same-colored Berries and one of a different color. It lessens the amount of watering needed for the Berries.
• Rich Mulch: Created with three Berries of different colors. It lessens the amount of general care needed for the Berries.
• Surprise Mulch: Created with three Berries of the same color. It increases the chance of Berry mutations.

If you are having trouble distinguishing Berry colors, you can use Berries of the same species to craft Boost Mulch or Surprise Mulch. For example, three Oran Berries will still yield Surprise Mulch. When planning to farm Berries, it is recommended to dedicate two or three plots to the same Berry species to ensure a continuous supply.

Berry Mutations:

Berry mutations occur when two Berries of different species are planted next to each other, potentially leading to new Berry species or intermediate characteristics. The odds of a mutation are generally low, but are aided by Surprise Mulch. Some rare Berries can also be obtained from the Pokemon Global Link website.

After discovering a mutation, a Scientist will move into the northeastern house and can provide a list of discovered mutation combos. To optimize the mutation process, fill every other plot with a Berry of the same species (e.g., 18 Oran Berries) and plant differing species in the remaining plots.

There are 67 species of Berries as of Generation VI, theoretically allowing for up to 4,422 possible mutations. Below are some known Berry mutation combinations:

Bug Pokemon Finds:

When growing Berries, you may encounter Bug-type Pokémon on shaking trees. Examining these trees will reveal the Pokémon. While not essential for gameplay, they are useful for Pokédex completion. Note that only female Combees evolve, and all Combees carry Honey.
