Learn how to navigate Metal Gear's treacherous environments and avoid instant game over scenarios. This guide details pitfalls and how to bypass them.

Alright, so you're playing Metal Gear and you've stumbled upon some areas that look a little… off. The game throws some nasty surprises at you, and some of them mean you'll be starting over immediately. We're going to make sure that doesn't happen to you!

Keep an eye out for dried paint chips on the walls. These aren't just for show; they're actually weak points you can blow open with C4. You'll find three of these walls: one to the right of the elevator, one to the left, and one in the bottom-left corner. The first two will give you some useful ammo and more C4, but the one in the bottom-left is your ticket to the next section.

Pro Tip: When you plant that C4, make sure you get a good distance away! The blast radius is pretty big, and you don't want to get caught in your own explosion. You can even plant multiple C4 charges and set them all off at once with the action button for a bigger bang.

Once you've blasted your way through, head into the south side area. Just keep moving south and check the right-hand wall. You'll see another spot with dried paint – plant your C4 there and make another hole. Go through this new opening and head right. You'll spot two more dried walls here, one on the north side and one on the right. For now, ignore the one on the right and plant your C4 on the upper wall. Detonate it, and you'll open up another path.

This next area is a big one! You'll finally meet Kenneth Baker, the guy you're supposed to rescue, but he's all tied up. More importantly, you'll come face-to-face with Revolver Ocelot, the slick gunslinger. This encounter kicks off your very first boss fight – a true duel between two sharpshooters!
