How to Find the Excavation Research

First off, you'll want to jump over a railing. After you land, make a left. You're looking for a wall that's got a grid pattern on it. There's even a sign that says 'CORE SAMPLE WALL' – can't miss it! Get up close to it and activate your AR Tracking (just hold the button). You're specifically looking for the Sampling Drilling holes right in the middle of that grid. Scan those.

Once you've scanned those drilling holes, turn yourself around and head towards a lift. It's not working, but you can totally climb or grapple up to the top. When you get up there, you'll see a table right in front of you, and another room off to the right. Go ahead and scan the table directly in front of you. You'll find some Ore Samples – they look like nondescript cylinders. Scanning these is what moves the research counter forward.

After scanning those, head back to the elevator and take a right this time. This leads to another room where you'll find a table with more Ore Samples on it. Scan those too. There's also a chest over to the right of this table if you want to grab some extra loot.

Okay, so you've scanned the core sample drilling holes and both sets of ore samples past the elevator. Now, make your way back to the elevator one last time. Turn left, and you'll find a door that takes you deeper into the mines. This is where you'll eventually find the Dionesium Extraction Investigation.
