Follow this Dragon Quest VI walkthrough to capture the wild mustang, recruit Carver, and obtain the wagon. Learn how to track the horse and impress the King.
Walkthrough
- 1Leave Somnia and head south-west towards a mountain gap. Carver will approach and offer to join you. He joins at Level 3 with a Bamboo Spear, Leather Kilt, and Leather Shield. He can equip the Giant Mallet or Stone Axe, and Scale Armour.
- 2Consider leveling Carver up by fighting local monsters near Somnia. Using a Boomerang is effective against groups.
- 3At Level 5, Carver learns Flying Knee, a skill that functions as a magic attack but uses no MP.
- 4Continue west across a small bridge. You'll see a signpost warning of a wild mustang.
- 5Enter the forest and find the horse by walking around the trees to the right. The horse will run off and stop multiple times.
- 6Carver will suggest a plan: he'll go west while you go east. Walk to the right, causing the horse to run left towards Carver, who will stop it. The horse will then run to a dead end.
- 7Talk to Carver to capture the horse. He will name her Peggy Sue, regardless of your input.
- 8Exit the forest, and Peggy Sue will follow.
- 9Return to the castle in Somnia. You can walk around the town and castle with Peggy Sue in tow, receiving unique comments.
- 10Speak with the old man in the courtyard. After some initial refusal, he will arrange for you to meet Captain Blade again.
- 11Carver will be recruited into the military as a reward. If you did not obtain the item at the top of Gardsbane Tower, you will receive an honor from the captain.
- 12You will then be ushered to meet the King for a new mission.
- 13Before leaving, speak with the King to receive the wagon (you get it even if you don't talk to him).
- 14Speak to the King a second time to inquire about the phantom realm. The chancellor will inform you that the north-eastern checkpoint is open.
- 15Enter the King's bedroom (located to the left) and check the drawers in the far corner to find a [SILVER TIARA].
- 16Return to the ground floor and speak to the old man, who will confirm the wagon is ready outside.
- 17Exit through the doors behind him to find yourself on the world map with your wagon and horse.
