Alright, let's get this next memory, "Proper Defenses," sorted in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. First things first, before we even set sail, make sure you've got the Heavy Shot upgrade for the Jackdaw. You'll find the option to do this back on the world map, sailing to the objective marker at the Salt Lagoon. Head into Edward's cabin and get that upgrade. Trust me, it's super helpful for one of the optional objectives later on.

Once that's done, hop off the boat and swim to shore. Find the pirates chilling around a campfire – they'll kick off the mission after a quick cutscene. Back on the Jackdaw, grab the wheel and start sailing. Your map will show a green circle; that's your target area. Cruise on over there, and get your spyglass ready to find the ship called 'El Arca Del Maestro'. It's usually hanging out near the northern edge of that green zone.

Heads up: this whole area is restricted, so you'll need to be sneaky. Keep an eye on those enemy ship cones of vision and steer clear! The 'El Arca Del Maestro' is a pretty massive ship, so you can't miss it. It also has a huge field of view, so definitely stay out of that yellow zone. Seriously, this thing can wreck your ship fast if you're not careful. Your best bet is to get behind it and follow it slowly, staying outside its sightline. Watch out for other ships that might wander into your safe zone – just maneuver around them.

Keep tailing the big galleon, and soon you'll hook up with some allies. After a short bit, eight smaller Spanish ships will pop up to the east. Don't worry about the galleon for now; sail out and engage these smaller guys.

This is where you can snag those optional objectives: sinking two boats with one broadside attack and taking down two ships with the Heavy Shot. These smaller ships aren't too tough, so even though you're outnumbered, you should be able to handle them. Remember, Heavy Shot is super powerful but you need to be close to use it effectively.

Once all those pesky Spanish ships are gone, a scene will play, and you'll wrap up this memory.
