In Aion, effective gear progression is paramount to your success in both PvE and PvP content. Understanding where to acquire your next set of powerful equipment, and how to enhance it, will significantly impact your character's capabilities. This guide outlines a clear path for gearing up, from your early adventures to challenging end-game content.

Early Game: Levels 1-50

Your initial gear journey focuses on quest rewards and easily accessible dungeon drops. Don't spend too much time optimizing gear at this stage, as you'll quickly outlevel it.

• Quest Rewards: The main story quests and many side quests will provide you with adequate green (uncommon) and blue (rare) quality gear as you level up. Always prioritize completing these quests.
• Crafted Gear: Consider investing a small amount in crafting professions like Armorsmithing or Weaponsmithing. Basic crafted gear can often fill gaps in your equipment slots and provide a slight edge over quest rewards. Look for recipes from crafting trainers in the main cities like Sanctum (Elyos) or Pandaemonium (Asmodian).
• Dungeon Drops (Levels 20-50):
  • Nochsana Training Camp (Level 25+): This instance offers decent blue-quality armor and weapon drops that can serve as a good stepping stone.
  • Fire Temple (Level 30+): A classic dungeon for mid-level gear. Look out for the "Flaming" set pieces and unique weapon drops from bosses like Kromede the Corrupt.
  • Draupnir Cave (Level 40+): Provides superior (gold) quality gear that will significantly boost your stats as you approach level 50. The "Draupnir" set is highly sought after.
• Stigma Shards: While not gear, remember to acquire Stigma Shards from questing and monster drops to unlock powerful Stigma skills for your class.

Mid Game: Levels 51-65

As you reach the level cap, your focus shifts to acquiring more permanent and powerful gear sets. This involves more dedicated dungeon farming and participation in PvP.

PvE Gear Progression

1. Kahrun's Grace Set (Level 60): This is an excellent starting point for level 60 PvE gear. You acquire Kahrun's Symbols by completing daily and weekly quests in Sarpan and Tiamaranta. These symbols can be exchanged for the full Kahrun's Grace armor and weapon set from the Kahrun's Symbol Distributor NPC in Kamar.
2. Tiamat Guard/Legionary Set (Level 60): Dropped from the Tiamat's Hideout instance, this set offers strong PvE stats and is a good upgrade from Kahrun's.
3. Sauro Supply Base Gear (Level 65): The Sauro Supply Base instance provides powerful mythic (orange) quality gear. You'll need to run this dungeon repeatedly to collect the full set and weapon. Look for the "Sauro Commander's" or "Sauro Elite" pieces.
4. Rune Tribe Gear (Level 65): Acquired through quests and drops in the Katalam regions, this gear is another viable option for level 65 PvE.

PvP Gear Progression

For PvP, you'll primarily be looking at Abyss Point (AP) gear, which offers specific PvP attack and defense stats.

1. Abyss Rank 1 Gear (Level 50/55): While you'll be higher level, the Level 50/55 Abyss Rank 1 gear (e.g., "Guardian/Archon Centurion's" set) can be a good entry point if you have accumulated AP. Purchase from Abyss Gear Vendors in the Abyss Fortresses or your faction's main city.
2. Blood Mark Gear (Level 65): This is your primary entry-level PvP set at level 65. Blood Marks are earned through various activities, including daily quests in Katalam, PvP instances like the Kamar Battlefield, and open-world PvP. Exchange Blood Marks for the "Blood Mark" set at the Blood Mark Vendors in Katalam.
3. Ceramium Coin Gear (Level 65): A significant upgrade from Blood Mark gear. Ceramium Coins are harder to acquire, primarily from fort sieges, high-tier PvP instances, and specific quests. This gear offers superior PvP stats.
4. Abyss Rank Gear (Level 65, Officer+): The ultimate PvP gear, requiring high Abyss Ranks (Officer and above) and a substantial amount of Abyss Points and Ceramium Medals. This gear provides the best PvP attack and defense bonuses.

End Game: Enhancing Your Gear

Acquiring the base gear is only half the battle. Enhancing it is crucial for maximizing your character's potential.

• Enchanting: Use Enchantment Stones (obtained from salvaging gear, quests, or drops) to increase the base stats of your armor and weapons. Higher-grade stones offer better success rates. Be aware of the risk of failure, which can destroy the item or reset its enchantment level.
• Manastones: Socket Manastones into your gear to customize your stats. Popular choices include Attack, Crit Strike, Magic Boost, Magic Accuracy, HP, and Evasion, depending on your class and build. Manastones can be purchased from vendors, dropped by monsters, or crafted.
• Godstones: Apply Godstones to your weapons to add powerful proc effects, such as Silence, Paralysis, or additional elemental damage. These are essential for PvP and high-end PvE.
• Fusing Weapons: For weapons, consider fusing two weapons together at a Soul Healer. This allows you to combine the stats and appearance of two weapons, often using a powerful main weapon and a secondary weapon with a desirable Godstone or appearance.
• Idian/Feather Enchanting: These systems provide additional stat boosts to your gear, often requiring specific materials found in end-game zones and instances.
