New to Aion? This guide breaks down efficient leveling, from game basics like binding to an Obelisk and learning skills, to questing and forming player groups. Get started!
Hey there! So, you're diving into Aion and want to level up efficiently? Awesome! Think of me as your experienced friend here to help you navigate the early days. We'll cover the essentials so you can get the most out of your journey without too much fuss.
### Game Basics
First things first, let's get you set up with some core mechanics.
#### Binding to an Obelisk
As soon as you can, make sure to bind yourself to an Obelisk. It costs a bit of kinah, but it's super important. This is where you'll respawn if you get defeated, and it's also your return point when you use the
skill. If the worst happens and you fall in battle, head back to the Obelisk and talk to the Soul Healer. They can help remove that pesky death debuff, which shortens the time it lasts.
#### Selecting Targets
Spotting your next opponent is pretty straightforward. You can just click on an NPC to select it, which also prepares you to attack. If you prefer keyboard shortcuts, pressing will cycle through nearby targets. Once you've targeted a hostile NPC, you'll see a red circle appear on the ground beneath them, and their name will highlight. Friendly NPCs will have a smaller, yellow circle at their feet.
#### Learning Skills
As you progress, you'll learn new skills. Some come from skill manuals, which you can buy from Trainers. The starting villages have manuals up to level 9, and then the major cities like Pandaemonium and Sanctum offer more. Quests will naturally guide you to these places. After level 20, you'll also start acquiring skills through Stigmas. If you can't find a manual, sometimes they drop from enemies, or you might be able to snag them from the Broker.
To learn a new skill, just right-click the manual in your inventory. To put it on your action bar, press to open your skills window and drag the skill to where you want it. Pro tip: lock your skill bar afterward to avoid accidentally moving skills around!
Unlocking the bar lets you rearrange skills however you like. Passive skills boost your stats and don't need to be on your bar. Don't forget to put your skill on there too – it'll make gathering items much easier.
#### Resting
After a tough fight, your HP and MP will be lower. Resting helps them regenerate faster. Just hit the comma key to take a breather.
#### Titles
Completing certain quests rewards you with titles. Each title gives you a little boost to specific attributes. You can check them out by pressing and selecting the tab. For a full rundown of all the titles and what they do, check out the Title page.
#### Stigmas
Around level 20, you'll get a campaign quest that leads you to your Stigma Master. Asmodians need to complete (p20), while Elyos players will tackle (p20). Finishing this quest unlocks two Stigma slots. You'll unlock a new slot every 10 levels, and there are even more advanced slots available through specific quests.
At level 20, here are the Stigmas you can start using:
| Class | Quest Reward Stigma | Purchased Stigma |
| :-------- | :---------------------------------- | :-------------------- |
| Templar | | Holy Shield I |
| Gladiator | | Dual Weapon Mastery I |
