    Chapter 1: Meet him at the start. He appears near sick tents after defeating Dhutanga at Lightzen Temple. Speak to him after defeating Lu Bingzhang for a Red Mercury Shoot. Find him to the right after descending stairs near a boulder enemy, following a tree shortcut. Head upstairs in Reverant Temple after reaching Doomwillow Beach to receive 4 Bunny Buns. After defeating the treant boss, follow the road towards Palace Pass to a grove where he is by a wooden bridge opposite a turtle statue, giving 3x Fixed Origin Pills. He is in the temple after defeating the Lotus Pond boss, mentioning Snowfall Palace's Red Mercury Ore.

    Chapter 2: He is in the Reverent Tower. Speak to him after defeating Huang Yen at Snowfall Palace to get Kong Wine x5. Hand over the Mad Doctor’s research notes for a special pill x5 (this choice locks out giving them to He Youzai if done first). Return after completing Chapter 2 for him to direct you to Chapter 3 areas. Giving the Mad Doctor's Notes to He Youzai first allows you to still give them to Xuanyangzhi later for lore. Missing these dialogues does not seem to break storylines.

    Chapter 3: Teleport back to Reverent Temple when events occur. Hand over the Zhenwu Temple Scriptures from the Pavilion of Knowledge. After defeating the end of Act 3 boss, he gives 1x Blood of Changhong. Optionally, at the end of Chapter 3, proceed through the cave past the Storyteller to the Overlook Ferry, which leads to Bai Mansion. Defeating the boss there allows another talk with Xuanyangzi for a Blood of Wangdi.

    Chapter 4 Choice: After reaching Reverent Tower, find Xuanyangzhi on the upper outside part. During a conversation, you will choose whether to give him the Jade Feather Chisel. Giving it leads to the Medicine ending achievement. Not giving it is necessary for the Dream Sweet Deceit or Bound by Fate’s Threads endings, as giving it can break them due to Chapter 5 events.

    Chapter 5: At the start of the chapter, find Xuanyangzi near the shrine. He disappears and reappears later towards the end of the chapter. Specific interactions depend on your Chapter 4 choice and are detailed in a spoiler box.
