New to The Universim? Learn how to build essential resource buildings like the Well, Farm, and Engineer's Hut to kickstart your civilization.

Alright, so you've just dropped your first civilization onto a new planet in The Universim. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but don't worry, we'll get you set up with the absolute basics. Think of this as your friendly nudge towards building those crucial first resource structures that'll keep your little nuggets happy and fed.

The Tutorial: When you first start, the game offers a tutorial. It's a good idea to go through it, especially if you're new to the game's camera controls and basic actions. It'll cover how to move around and introduce you to your main goal.

The Mother Planet: This is your starting world, and it's unique every time you play! It'll have familiar features like water, plants, and weather, just like Earth. This is where you'll establish your civilization.

The Epicenter: This is the very first building you'll place. It's super important because it's the heart of your settlement and where your first four Nuggets (two adults, two kids) will pop out. The best spot for it is near water, trees, and loose rocks. Why? Because your Nuggets need those resources to survive, build, and grow. Placing it close by cuts down on their travel time, making everything more efficient right from the start. To place it, just left-click where you want it, and then confirm.

Construction Basics

Once your Epicenter is down and your Nuggets are milling about, it's time to get building!

Water is Life

Your first priority is a reliable water source. You'll want to build a Well. To do this, click the hammer icon in the bottom-left corner to open the Buildings menu. The Well is usually found in the Epicenter category. After selecting it, you'll see its silhouette under your mouse. Place it near a body of water – the game will show you numbers indicating water source quality; aim for higher numbers.

While the Well is being built, think about your other water sources. If you have multiple water bodies, you can build more Water Pumps for more water, or even Fisher Piers to start getting food. Having plenty of water access speeds up both water and food gathering.

Securing Food

After the Well is up, focus on food. You can expand your fishing operations with more Fisher Piers, or you can build Farms. If you go the farming route, you might need another Water Pump to ensure your crops get enough water. Different crops have different needs – some prefer specific biomes or temperatures, and some give more food but take longer to grow. For a beginner, it's often best to start with a crop that doesn't need a ton of water.

Maintenance Matters

As your population grows, you'll need to keep your buildings in good shape. Build an Engineer's Hut. This allows your Engineers to repair buildings, preventing them from collapsing. A collapsed building is a wasted resource! You should also consider building a Hospital or a Cemetery. Injured Nuggets lose health over time if not treated, and unburied dead Nuggets can spread illness. Keeping your Nuggets healthy is key to a thriving civilization.

Extra Amenities

Once the essentials are covered, you can add buildings like an Eatery to turn raw food into prepared meals, making your Nuggets happier. A Forecast Tower can also be helpful, giving you a heads-up on future weather patterns and seasons, so you can prepare accordingly.

Keep Growing

As your civilization expands, you'll simply need more of everything: more Water Pumps, more Farms, more Hospitals. The game currently has a population cap, but that's expected to change as development continues. Just keep an eye on your Nuggets' needs and build structures to meet them!
