New to The Universim? Learn how to establish your first civilization by placing your Epicenter, securing water and food, and managing your Nuggets' needs.

Alright, so you've just booted up The Universim and you're wondering where to even start, right? Don't worry, we've all been there! This guide is going to walk you through setting up your very first civilization, from dropping your Epicenter to making sure your little Nuggets don't starve or get sick. Think of it as your cosmic starter kit!

The Tutorial

First off, the game's gonna offer you a tutorial. Honestly, it's a good idea to take it! It'll show you the ropes on how to move the camera around and get a feel for the basic controls. It's super helpful for getting your bearings before you start shaping a whole planet.

The Mother Planet

Once you're in, you'll see your starting planet – we call it the Mother Planet. Each one is randomly generated, so yours will look unique! It's got all the familiar stuff like water, trees, and changing seasons, kinda like Earth. This is where your civilization's journey begins.

The Epicenter: Your First Building

The very first thing you need to do is place your Epicenter. This is the heart of your settlement. Once it's built, it'll pop out four Nuggets to get you started – two adults and two kids. Here's a pro-tip: try to place your Epicenter near a water source, some trees, and loose rocks. Having these resources close by means your Nuggets won't have to trek forever to gather what they need, saving you precious early-game time.

To place it, just left-click where you want it, and then confirm. Easy peasy!

Construction: The Essentials

With your first four Nuggets, the adults will get right to work. Your immediate priority? Water! You'll want to build a Well. Click that hammer icon at the bottom left to open the Buildings menu, find the Well under the Epicenter category, and place it near a good water source. The game will even show you numbers indicating how good the water is – aim for higher numbers!

While the Well is being built, think about your other water needs. If you've got multiple water bodies nearby, you can set up more Water Pumps or even Fisher Piers to start bringing in food. More water sources mean faster resource gathering, which is key.

Once the Well is up, get a Water Pump going. Most buildings need water to function, so this is crucial.

Food, Glorious Food!

After the water situation is stable, it's time to think about food. You can stick with fishing using those Fisher Piers, or you can build Farms. If you go the farming route, you might need another Water Pump to keep those crops hydrated. Different crops have different needs – some prefer certain climates or temperatures, and some grow faster but yield less food. A good starting point is to pick a crop that doesn't guzzle water.

Keeping Things Running: Maintenance

As your population grows, you'll need to manage upkeep. Build an Engineer's Hut to get Engineers who can repair buildings. If buildings fall apart, you'll have to rebuild them from scratch, which is a huge waste of resources. You'll also want to consider a Hospital or a Cemetery. Injured Nuggets lose health over time, and dead Nuggets can spread illness if not buried promptly. A plague can wipe out your whole civilization, so keep those Nuggets healthy and buried!

Extra Goodies: Accessories

Once the basics are covered, you can add some conveniences. Build an Eatery to turn raw food into prepared meals, making your Nuggets happier. A Forecast Tower will give you a heads-up on upcoming weather and seasons, helping you plan ahead.

Keep Building, Keep Growing

The core loop of The Universim is about scaling up. As your population booms, you'll need more of everything: more Water Pumps, more Farms, more Hospitals. The game's population cap will eventually be removed as development continues, so always be ready to expand!
