Learn how to set up and manage expeditions in The Universim. This guide covers everything from initial planet placement to resource management and building construction for a thriving civilization.

This article serves as a short guide on how to start playing The Universim and the best steps to take to create a thriving civilization. It is important to note that there is no single correct way to play the game.

Introduction

The Tutorial

At the very beginning, the game offers a short tutorial on camera navigation, controls, and your initial goal.

The Mother Planet

The Mother Planet is the world you start on, randomly generated each game. It features characteristics similar to Earth, such as water, greenery, seasons, and a blue sky. This is where you will build your civilization.

The Epicenter

The Epicenter is the first building you place. It creates four Nuggets (two adults, two children) to start your civilization. It is strongly suggested to place it near water, a forest, and loose rocks for early resources. Left-click to place it, and a confirmation message will appear.

Construction

Water

With your first four nuggets, command them to build a Well from the Buildings menu (under the epicenter category) to establish a fresh water supply. Place it near a good water source, indicated by numbers above your mouse. While the well is building, plan for additional water sources like Water Pumps or Fisher Piers. Most buildings require a Water Pump to operate.

Food

After the water pump is complete, plan for food by either using fishing routes or building Farms. Farms may require an additional water pump for crops. Different crops have varying water needs, growth times, and yields. It's suggested to use the crop requiring the least water.

Maintenance

As your adult population grows, build an Engineer's Hut to repair existing buildings and prevent collapse. Consider building a Hospital or Cemetery to manage injured and deceased nuggets, preventing mass illness and rapid destruction of your civilization.

Accessories

You can now build an Eatery to convert raw food into prepared meals or a Forecast Tower for insight into future temperatures and seasonal changes.

Repeat

As your civilization grows, add more of the same buildings (water pumps, farms, hospitals, etc.) to meet increasing demands. The game currently has a cap on nugget population, which will be removed as development progresses.
