Infantry

Explore Unicorn Overlord's Infantry classes: Berserker, Breaker, Landsknecht, and Sergeant. Learn their skills, strengths, and weaknesses.

Berserker

Characters: Bruno

Valor Skill: Toughness - Negate stamina loss at the end of battle and knock back enemy regardless of loss.

Opinion: Berserkers are a very tough front line unit. The Bulk Up skill and sky high HP make them very hard to take down, but if they’re hit too hard before they can heal back up they’re in trouble. They are also good damage dealers with Grand Smash and Wide Counter. If you can keep their health topped up, their attacks hit even harder, even if accuracy tends to be a problem.

Skills:

  • Wide Smash (Level 1): 150 Phys, 1 Hit, 80% Acc, 1 AP, Row targeting. +50 Potency if user has 100% HP.
  • Mounting Charge (Level 20): 1 AP, Self targeting. Restore 30% Health and grant +30% Physical Attack.
  • Grand Smash (Level 30): 100 Phys, 1 Hit, 80% Acc, 2 AP, All Enemies targeting. +50% Potency if user has 100% HP.
  • Bulk Up (Level 1): 1 PP, Self targeting. Recover 40% HP after being hit.
  • Wide Counter (Level 15): 100, 1 Hit, 75% Acc, 1 AP, Row targeting. Counterattacks a row of enemies when hit.
  • Berserk (Level 25): 1 PP, Self targeting. Consume all PP to gain 1 AP and survive one fatal blow.

Breaker

Characters: Mordon, Nina, Kitra [Postgame - Mille]

Valor Skill: Heavy Swing - Damage all enemy units within range (also clears barricades and traps).

Opinion: As you can tell from the skills, this class is a dedicated anti-armor specialist. Breakers do insane physical damage and can crack open armored foes easily. Breakers also have some of the highest Physical Attack scores out there, so even basic infantry will be crushed by their mighty hammers. The main downsides of breakers is that their accuracy growths are only mediocre, so more nimble units tend to run circles around them. Breaker’s Valor skill also becomes increasingly important as the maps begin to feature more and more mines, traps and barricades.

Skills:

  • Heavy Smash (Level 1): 100 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 1 AP, Single targeting. Ignores 100% Defense of Armored targets.
  • Assaulting Blow (Level 10): 100 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 1 AP, Single targeting. Grants user 1 AP if target is defeated.
  • Row Smash (Level 30): 100 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 2 AP, Row targeting. Ignores 100% Defense vs. Armored targets.
  • Binding Guard (Level 1): 1 PP, Single targeting. Users next attack inflicts Guard Seal.
  • Enrage (Level 20): 1 PP, Self targeting. After an ally is hit by attack, it grants the user +20% Attack and +20 Accuracy.
  • Heavy Counter (Level 25): 150 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 1 PP, Single targeting. Counterattacks a single enemy, Ignores 100% Defense of Armored targets.

Landsknecht

Characters: Bernice, Magellan, Jeremy

Valor Skill: Summon Warriors - Summons a unit of allied mercenaries (Limit 3). Summon Archers - Summons a unit of allied archers (Limit 3).

Opinion: Landsknects are a fantastic physical damage class. Killing chain knocks off weakened targets and lets you keep attacking. My favorite skill is Following Slash, letting you continuously attack foes who dare to threaten your allies. Landsknechts make fantastic partners for Legionnaires, since any attacks that the Legionnaire blocks will trigger Following Slash which can also weaken foes enough for Killing Chain to take them out. Also the Valor skills let you summon extra units appropriate to the map level (not your character level), allowing you to challenge higher level maps way before you would normally be able to.

Skills:

  • Heavy Slash (Level 1): 150 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 1 AP, Single targeting.
  • Killing Chain (Level 10): 100 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 1 AP, Single targeting. Grants a user 1 AP if this attack defeats the target.
  • Bastard’s Cross (Level 20): 70 Phys, 2 Hits, 100% Acc, 2 AP, Single targeting. Potency increases based on target’s HP (+50 maximum increase).
  • Following Slash (Level 1): 75 Phys, 1 Hit, 90% Acc, 1 PP, Single targeting. Counterattacks after an attack hits an ally, grants 1 PP if attack hits.
  • Vengeful Guard (Level 25): 1 PP, Self targeting. Block an attack with medium guard, Grants the user +20% Phys Attack.
  • Bull Force (Level 30): 2 PP, Self targeting. Gain 1 AP, +20% Phys Attack, and +20 Initiative after using a skill.

Sergeant

Characters: Chloe [Postgame - Gailey]

Valor Skill: Life Aid - Revive all incapacitate combatants of all allied units in range (leaves with 1 HP).

Opinion: Admittedly this is a class that I have never been able to get to work quite right. On paper, the Sergeant is a fantastic generalist, doing a lot of things well but not fantastically. It is good against Cavalry and Flying units and grants you a heal at the end of combat. In the beginning it is a great partner to Berserkers, but its utility falls off as the game progresses.

Skills:

  • Long Thrust (Level 1): 100 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 1 AP, Column targeting. Cavalry targets cannot guard against this attack. +50 potency vs. Cavalry.
  • Javelin (Level 10): 100 Phys, 1 Hit, 100% Acc, 1 AP, Single targeting. Ranged attack.

Ranged Classes and Casters

Explore Unicorn Overlord's Ranged Classes and Casters guide, detailing Bishops, Druids, Elven Archers, and Featherbows. Learn their skills, roles, and how to best utilize them in combat for maximum support and damage.

Magic users and archers, while distinct, share a back-row support role in Unicorn Overlord. These classes excel in providing powerful support abilities and high damage, though they generally prefer to avoid direct engagement.

Bishop

Characters: Sharon, Tatiana, Primm

Valor Skill: Heal - Restore 50% HP to allies in range.

Bishops are premier healing units, offering a versatile range of restorative abilities. They can heal allies, purge ailments, and even resurrect fallen comrades. While lacking in raw offensive power, their unparalleled ability to keep the party alive makes them a highly recommended addition to almost any lineup.

Skills:

  • Heal (Level 1): 100 Mag, 1 Hit, 1 AP. Restores moderate HP to one ally.
  • Sacred Heal (Level 25): 100 Mag, 1 Hit, 2 AP. Restores moderate HP to allies in a row and removes debuffs.
  • Quick Heal (Level 1): 50 Mag, 1 Hit, 1 PP. When an ally is damaged, restores minor HP to that ally.
  • Refresh (Level 10): 1 PP. Removes all debuffs from a row of allies.
  • Lifesaver (Level 15): 50 Mag, 1 PP. When attacked, heals self for minor HP and grants a buff to resurrect self once.
  • Parting Resurrection (Level 20): 1 Hit, 1 PP. Revives a fallen ally with 1 HP.

Druid

Characters: Selvie

Valor Skill: Clairvoyance - Improve visibility in an area, detecting hidden enemies.

Druids specialize in debilitating enemies, reducing their effectiveness in nearly every aspect. They can lower offensive and defensive power, drain enemy PP, and prevent critical hits. Druids are excellent classes, and having multiple in a unit allows for specialization in various forms of enemy debuffing.

Skills:

  • Passive Curse (Level 1): 1 AP. Inflicts -1 PP and -10 Initiative on a row of enemies.
  • Offensive Curse (Level 10): 1 AP. Inflicts -50% Physical and Magical Attack on a row of enemies.
  • Defensive Curse (Level 20): 1 AP. Inflicts -50% Physical and Magical Defense and Guard Seal on a row of enemies. (Note: Game menu may mistakenly list Attack instead of Defense).
  • Compounding Curse (Level 30): 1 AP. Increases the potency of a debuff by 1.5x on a row of enemies.
  • Quick Curse (Level 1): 1 PP. When a foe attacks, inflicts Attack -20% and Critical Seal on a single enemy.
  • Cursed Swamp (Level 25): 2 PP. Inflicts -10 Initiative, -30 Evasion, and -1 PP to all enemies. (LIMITED use).

Elven Archer

Characters: Lhinalagos, Ridiel, Galadmir

Valor Skill: Merciful Rain - Conjure rain that restores 10% HP to all allies every second within range.

Elven Archers excel at debuff removal, with passive skills designed to counter debilitating effects. They also offer strong support with abilities like Mystic Conferral and Icicle Arrow, which can freeze back-row enemies. Selfless Heal, when paired with a First Aid Kit, can provide a guaranteed full party heal at the end of combat, making them a viable alternative to Bishops in some team compositions.

Skills:

  • Wind Arrow (Level 1): 75 Phys, 75 Mag, 1 Hit, 100% Acc., 1 AP. Inflicts Evasion -50 on a single enemy.
  • Mystic Conferral (Level 20): 1 AP. Adds 50 Potency magic damage to an ally's attacks.
  • Icicle Arrow (Level 30): 75 Phys, 75 Mag, 1 Hit, 100% Acc., 2 AP. Inflicts Freeze on two enemies.
  • Quick Cure (Level 1): 1 PP. When an ally is debuffed, removes the debuff and grants immunity to one debuff.
  • Selfless Heal (Level 15): 50 Mag, 1 PP. When healed, restores minor HP to all allies and removes all debuffs.
  • Pure Field (Level 25): 1 PP. Negates a single debuff for all allies. (LIMITED use).

Featherbow

Characters: Raenys

Valor Skill: Delay - Increase the wait time of an enemy unit by 5 seconds.

Featherbows are primarily debilitation specialists rather than damage dealers. Skills like Saint’s Shot and Photon Arrow can weaken enemy formations, while Shining Light is particularly effective, inflicting blind on a target and their row before they attack, nullifying incoming damage. Their Valor skill can also paralyze enemy units by adding wait time, even to those with no current wait time.

Skills:

  • Saint’s Shot: Inflicts debuffs on enemies.
  • Photon Arrow: Inflicts debuffs on enemies.
  • Shining Light: Triggers before a target attacks, inflicting blind on them and their row, nullifying the attack and potentially stopping subsequent attacks.
