New to The Universim? This guide walks you through your first steps, from placing your Epicenter to managing resources like water and food, and building essential structures.

Alright, so you've just booted up The Universim and you're staring at a brand new planet. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but don't worry, I've got your back! This guide is all about getting your little nuggets off to a solid start. We'll cover everything from where to plop down your very first building to making sure everyone has enough to eat and drink.

The Tutorial

First off, the game's gonna offer you a quick tutorial. Seriously, do it. It'll show you the ropes on how to move your camera around and get a feel for the basic controls. It's a painless way to get acquainted with the game's interface before you're thrown into the deep end.

Your Mother Planet

The world you're about to shape is called the Mother Planet. Each time you start a new game, it's randomly generated, so it'll always feel fresh. Think of it like a mini-Earth with water, land, and all the seasons. This is where your civilization will begin its journey.

Placing Your Epicenter

The very first building you'll place is the Epicenter. This is your civilization's heart, and once it's up, it'll pop out four little nuggets to get you started – two adults and two kids. Here's a pro-tip: try to place your Epicenter near a water source, some trees (for wood, obviously!), and some loose rocks. Having these resources close by means your nuggets won't have to trek forever to gather what they need, saving you precious early-game time.

To place it, just left-click where you want it. You'll get a confirmation pop-up, so make sure you're happy with the spot!

Construction Basics

With your first four nuggets (the adults will get right to work gathering), it's time to think about essentials.

Water is Life

Your absolute first priority should be building a Well. You'll find it in the Buildings menu, under the Epicenter category. Click the hammer icon in the bottom-left to open that up. When you hover over a spot to build the Well, you'll see numbers indicating the water source quality – aim for the highest numbers you can find near your Epicenter.

While the Well is being built, take a look at your surroundings. If you've got a couple of water sources nearby, you can plan to build Water Pumps on both, or maybe even a Fisher Pier to start getting some food. Having multiple water sources really speeds up resource gathering.

Once the Well is done, get a Water Pump built ASAP. Most other buildings need water to function, so this is critical.

Keeping Everyone Fed

After the water situation is sorted, it's time to think about food. You've got two main options: fishing with Fisher Piers, or building Farms. If you go the farm route, you might need another Water Pump to keep those crops happy and hydrated. Different crops have different needs – some need less water, some grow faster, some yield more. Pick one that suits your available resources and climate.

Maintenance is Key

As your population grows, you'll want to build an Engineer's Hut. This is super important because engineers can repair buildings. If your buildings fall apart, you'll have to rebuild them from scratch, which is a huge waste of time and resources. You should also consider building a Hospital or a Cemetery around this time. Injured nuggets need healing, and dead ones can cause illness if not buried promptly. A plague can wipe out your whole civilization if you're not careful!

Extra Amenities

Once the basics are covered, you can start thinking about making life a bit more comfortable. Building an Eatery lets your nuggets turn raw food into prepared meals, which is more efficient. And a Forecast Tower will give you a heads-up on upcoming weather and seasons, helping you plan ahead.

Keep Growing

The name of the game is expansion. As your population booms, you'll need to build more of everything: more Water Pumps, more Farms, more Fisher Piers, more Hospitals. Just keep an eye on your nuggets' needs and build accordingly. The population cap will eventually be removed as the game develops further, so keep expanding!
