Even the most formidable foes in the Great Sea have a chink in their armor. This section details common enemies, their specific weaknesses, and the most effective strategies to dispatch them, often utilizing items you'll acquire throughout your adventure.

Bokoblin

These common, goblin-like creatures are often found wielding clubs or swords. While not particularly dangerous alone, they can overwhelm Link in groups.

• Weakness: Nearly any attack.
• Strategy:
  • Early Game: A simple sword combo (A, A, A) is usually sufficient. Use your Shield (R button) to block their slow attacks and counter-attack.
  • Advanced Strategy: The Grappling Hook can be used to steal their Joy Pendants, a valuable collectible. Target a Bokoblin, use the Grappling Hook, and then pull back to snag the pendant. This also stuns them, allowing for an easy follow-up attack.
  • Environmental Advantage: In areas with explosive barrels, lure Bokoblins near them and detonate with a Boomerang or Bow shot for quick crowd control.

Kargaroc

These large, bird-like enemies often swoop down from the sky, attempting to grab Link. They are particularly annoying when traversing the open sea.

• Weakness: Projectiles, especially when grounded or stunned.
• Strategy:
  • Aerial Combat: The most effective way to deal with Kargarocs is to use your Boomerang. Lock on to them (Z-target) and throw the Boomerang. A direct hit will often stun them, causing them to fall to the ground.
  • Ground Attack: Once a Kargaroc is stunned on the ground, rush in and unleash a flurry of sword attacks. A single Spin Attack (hold B, release) can often finish them off.
  • Bow & Arrow: If you have the Bow, a well-aimed arrow can also bring them down, though it requires more precision than the Boomerang.
  • Defensive Maneuvers: If you're on your boat, use the Cannon to shoot them down before they get too close. On land, roll (A button) to dodge their swooping attacks.

Morth

Small, spiky creatures that attach themselves to Link, slowing him down and dealing minor damage. They often appear in groups or are spawned by larger enemies like Mothula.

• Weakness: Spin Attack, Deku Leaf.
• Strategy:
  • Immediate Removal: If a Morth attaches to Link, perform a Spin Attack (hold B, release). This will dislodge all Morths currently on you and damage any nearby.
  • Area of Effect: The Deku Leaf can also be used to blow away groups of Morths, especially useful in tight corridors or when they are clustered together.
  • Prevention: Try to avoid contact with Morths. If they are spawned by a larger enemy, prioritize defeating the spawner to prevent more from appearing.

Poe

Ghostly enemies that appear in dark areas, particularly in the Earth Temple. They are intangible until their lantern is extinguished.

• Weakness: Light, sword attacks when tangible.
• Strategy:
  • Exposing the Poe: The key to defeating a Poe is to extinguish its lantern. The most reliable method is to use the Boomerang. Target the Poe, then aim the Boomerang at its lantern.
  • Sword Combat: Once the lantern is out, the Poe becomes tangible. Quickly rush in and attack with your sword. They will attempt to relight their lantern, so be swift.
  • Light Arrows (Late Game): After acquiring the Light Arrows, a single shot will instantly defeat a Poe, regardless of its lantern status. This is the most efficient method once available.
  • Mirror Shield: In the Earth Temple, you can use the Mirror Shield to reflect light onto Poes, stunning them and making them vulnerable to sword attacks. This is crucial for solving some puzzles involving Poes.

Darknut

Heavily armored knights that are slow but incredibly powerful. Their full armor makes them impervious to most frontal attacks.

• Weakness: Back attacks, exposing their unarmored body.
• Strategy:
  • Armor Removal: The primary strategy is to remove their heavy armor. Use a Parry Attack (A button when an enemy attacks) or a Hurricane Spin (Spin Attack followed by repeated B presses) to stun them. While stunned, quickly get behind them and attack their back. This will cause pieces of their armor to fall off.
  • Grappling Hook Tactic: The Grappling Hook can be used to pull off pieces of their armor directly. Target a piece of armor and use the Grappling Hook. This is particularly effective for their helmet and shoulder pads.
  • Exposed Body: Once their armor is removed, Darknuts become much faster but also highly vulnerable. A few well-placed sword strikes will defeat them.
  • Bomb Strategy: If you have Bombs, you can toss one behind a Darknut to blast off some armor, though this can be tricky to time correctly.
