Walkthrough
- 1At the dungeon entrance, use the large Magic Decanter (a device that refills your magic meter). Examine the space over the bottomless pit marked with a ?. Use the Cane of Somaria (an item that can create temporary platforms) on the ?. This will create a platform. Step onto it and ride along the track marked by the dotted line to the other side, then enter the door.
- 2In the large room, use the platform created by the Cane of Somaria to travel. Head west first. At the first stop, go south into the next room. Open the chest for the Compass, guarding against Medusa fire. Return north. The door is guarded by a Laser Eye (an enemy that shoots lasers when faced directly). Face any way except north, charge up a spin attack, and walk through the doorway back into the previous room.
- 3Take your platform northeast, stopping at the ledge with a door leading east. In the following room, use the Cane of Somaria to create a platform. Use the Fire Rod (a magical item that shoots fire) to light the four torches over the pit to open the north door. This door is on a timer and will shut if even one torch extinguishes. Ride south on the platform, wait until you're curving back around, then move east between the northern and southern torches. Light the southern torches first, then the northern ones as you approach them. Quickly enter the door before it closes.
- 4Avoid the two spiked rolls (rolling enemies). For the first one moving north and south, hide on the west or east side against the wall until it passes. For the second one moving east and west, use the same strategy. At the end of this room are two chests. The one on the left contains the Map, and the one on the right has Small Key #1. There is also a skull with a small Magic Decanter. Dodge past the two spiked rolls and return to the previous room, then back west into the hub room.
- 5To refill health or magic, ride your platform to the ledge immediately to the west. Defeat the Red Stalfos (a type of skeleton enemy) here and enter the next room. Wait out a storm of flying floor tiles in the doorway, then advance north to find both a Fairy and a large Magic Decanter. Return to the hub room.
- 6On a ledge in the northwest corner (where there is no door), there is a single skull containing a large Magic Decanter. Go to the other northwest ledge (the one with a locked door and guarded by a Red Stalfos), and unlock the door. In the next room, defeat the Hokkubokku (a segmented, bouncy enemy). Keep attacking its lower segments until only the head remains, then slash the head with your sword to destroy it. This will net you Small Key #2. Use it to unlock the door ahead.
- 7In the next room, avoid the Chain Chomps (invincible enemies attached to chains). Use a ranged attack on the Crystal Switch to lower the blue blocks. On either side of the door you entered from is a cluster of five blocks. Push the northernmost block in either cluster to make a chest appear. Lower the orange blocks now, and still avoiding the Chain Chomps, open the chest to obtain Small Key #3. This is needed to unlock the north door and go downstairs to B1.
- 8Emerge in a large room with pipes overhead. Watch out for Anti-Fairies (flying enemies that drain magic) and Light-Green Zols (a type of slime enemy) as you make your way southeast, and a Hokkubokku. Climb up the steps in the southeast corner and enter the pipe to be taken to the northwestern part of the room. Enter the door you find.
- 9There is molten lava in this room. Go with the lower pipe first. You'll be taken due west, so go through the west door. Four Anti-Fairies will come upon you; avoid them or use Magic Powder. Strike the Crystal Switch to lower the blue blocks ahead, then defeat the incoming Hokkubokku to pick up Small Key #4. Beware the two Stalfos heads and the Rab...
Tips
- The Telepathy Tile at the entrance warns you to enter with a way to restore magic, such as a Green Potion or preferably a Blue Potion.
- When dealing with the Laser Eye, do not face it directly to avoid its laser barrage.
- Be quick when lighting the torches for the timed door; start lighting them as you approach them on the platform.
- Use the walls for cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) when avoiding the spiked rolls.
- When fighting the Hokkubokku, focus on destroying its segments before attacking the head.
- Chain Chomps are invincible; use ranged attacks and avoid their lunging range.
