Walkthrough
- 1From the entrance, use the Hookshot to cross the bottomless pit and go downstairs to B1.
- 2Defeat the Popo and Wizzrobes, dealing with the Beamos as you go, to open the north door.
- 3In the large room with a mesh floor, take the center steps north to the upper level.
- 4Go through the north door, defeat the Popo, and push the block east or west to open the next door.
- 5Continue north for two rooms until you reach a chest containing Small Key #1.
- 6Return south two rooms to the block puzzle and take the east door.
- 7In this room, defeat the Beamos and three Red Stalfos. Lift the skull in the northwest corner for Small Key #2.
- 8Activate the Cane of Byrna or Magic Cape, lift the skull on the spikes, step on the switch to make a chest appear on the spikes, and open it for Small Key #3. Deactivate the item, step off the spikes, and unlock the north door.
- 9Pass through the empty rooms, go north, follow the walkway north and west, and cross the walkway into the west door.
- 10Dispatch the Wizzrobe, pick up skulls, navigate the narrow passages west, avoiding Sparks.
- 11At the west end, lift the skull for Small Key #4 and strike the Crystal Switch to turn it blue.
- 12Make your way to the southeastern part of the room, defeat the Medusa statues and two Red Stalfos, and unlock the south door.
- 13In the next room, use the Cane of Byrna or Magic Cape to cross spikes with Blade Traps. Continue south.
- 14In the room with two Medusas and a Red Stalfos, head east.
- 15You will return to a large room near the beginning. Go straight south and unlock the west door.
- 16Navigate the room with conveyors and the Yomo Medusa, defeating the Blue Bari for Small Key #5. Ensure the Crystal Switch is still blue.
- 17Unlock the west door. (The south door leads to an empty room to fill the dungeon map.)
- 18Hide in the doorway as floor tiles and a Medusa attack. Light the four torches (using the Lamp or Fire Rod) to open the north door.
- 19Go north, defeat the Blue Stalfos, and open the chest beyond the blue blocks for the Compass.
- 20Go south two rooms, defeat the Wizzrobe and Sluggulas, and defeat the Red Bari as you loop around to the stairs.
Tips
- The Wizzrobes can be defeated in one hit with the Tempered Sword while they are fully materialized.
- Sluggulas can be a good source of Bombs if you need them.
- Using the Lamp to light the torches conserves magic, while the Fire Rod is quicker.
- Be careful of Sparks and Winders in the mesh floor room.
- The Yomo Medusa only fires when you attack.
- The heads of Green Stalfos home in on you and take many hits to defeat.
- The dungeon is also referred to as Misery Maze in the Nintendo Power player's guide.
