Detailed walkthrough and strategy for Battle 19 - Rime City in Tactics Ogre: Reborn. Learn optimal equipment, lineup, and tactics to defeat enemies and secure treasure.
This guide covers Battle 19, Rime City, in Tactics Ogre: Reborn. It focuses on preparing your party with specific equipment and a strategic lineup to overcome the level 13 enemies, including Zapan.
Pre-Mission Advice:
Ensure Kachua's Weight is below 484. If she is level 12, her weight should be under 480. If not, temporarily equip an Orb to replace a Staff weapon. This prevents losing a healer early, as Kachua cannot die.
Equipment Updates:
- Denim: Phlanka, Power Gauntlet, Battle Boots, Blue Necklace.
- Aloser: Slender Spear, Chain Armour, Battle Boots, Wind Orb.
- Sisteena: Cedar Staff x2, Wind Ring, Battle Boots. (Equip Heal/Vitalize spells)
- Canopus: Slender Spear, Chain Armour, Battle Boots, Wind Orb.
- Ghost: Life Staff, Cedar Staff, Chain Armour, Battle Boots.
- Sara: Great Bow, Chain Armour, VanCharm, Battle Boots.
- Voltel: Matou Claw, Power Gauntlet, Chain Armour, Battle Boots.
- Presance: Cedar Staff x2, Wind Ring, Battle Boots.
- Forcas: Phlanka, Crossbow, Fire Orb (preferably), Battle Boots.
- Byan: Clear Staff, Cedar Staff, Undead Ring, Battle Boots. (Equip Incubus for third spell)
Lineup:
Back Row: Denim, Presance, Sara, Aloser, Ghost
Front Row: Sisteena, Byan, Voltel, Forcas, Canopus
Note: The Buried Treasure can only be acquired during this battle. Obtain two extra Orbs (or an Orb and a Wind Ring) and a Blessing or Escape item.
Strategy:
Enemies are level 13. Kachua will move first, drawing attacks away from her. Have Denim retreat to Kachua's right to avoid Zapan. Bring the rest of your team to Denim's aid.
Canopus can use WindShot from the roof on the Blue Dragon. Presance should heal Denim from a distance, while the Ghost uses magic from below the roof across the water.
Sisteena should heal Denim. Use Byan's Meteor magic on the injured Blue Dragon and nearby foes. Use Acid if the weather is favorable and can hit a 13-square area.
Your Archer can clear the side path, but Zapan may block it. Initially, distance your Ninja and use magic on clumped enemies. Use his direct attack when fewer enemies are present and it's safe.
Prioritize eliminating the Witches and Hawk Men, as they will target Byan or the Ghost. Destroy the remaining dragon quickly.
To manage Zapan, reduce his HP below 100 (aim for 80) to trigger Cure+ and a retreat. Trap him in the starting area where he emerged. Heal your path-blocker and Zapan if his HP gets too low, being mindful of counters. The mission ends if his HP drops below 40.
Healers will be busy. Kachua's presence is vital, especially against status effects from Witches and Dragons. The Ghost can use its Life Staff to heal allies if needed. Poison on a full-HP character has lower priority than a Stunned ally.
Area-of-effect (AoE) magic can target unlit squares on rooftops within range (diagonally). Collect Stat Cards dropped during the battle and distribute them to the characters who need them most. Once all other opponents are defeated, reduce Zapan's HP to around 40 to end the battle.
