Master Vega's normal attacks in Street Fighter II. Learn about his claw weapon, punch attacks like Long-Range Swipe and Throat Gash, and kick attacks including Slide Kick and Soaring Heel.

Vega is unique in Street Fighter II for his claw weapon, which can break over time. When broken, the range of his attacks is slightly reduced, but special commands remain functional. The claw is restored at the start of the next round. It's important to note that the claw will not break from excessive use, only from blocking or taking hits.

Punch Attacks

Long-Range Swipe: Perform this long-reaching stab by pressing the high punch button while moving or standing. Using the middle punch button also works but results in less strength and a slightly different animation.

  • SNES Default: L or > + L or < + L (Also works with X)
  • GENS Default: Z or > + Z or < + Z (Also works with Y)

Throat Gash: A close-range jab performed by tapping the middle or high punch buttons when very close to the opponent. It's faster than the Long-Range Swipe.

  • SNES Default: X or L (Touching)
  • GENS Default: Y or Z (Touching)

Flying Tiger Claw: In mid-air, press the middle or high punch buttons to thrust a forward jab. The high punch button results in a lower-angled jab.

  • SNES Default: X or L (Mid-Air)
  • GENS Default: Y or Z (Mid-Air)

Crouching Uppercut: From a crouching stance, hold Down and press the high punch button for a high-reaching uppercut. The middle punch button results in a straight jab, and the low punch button also yields a fast but weak jab. The high punch version will miss if the opponent is ducking.

  • SNES Default: v + L or v + X
  • GENS Default: v + Z or v + Y

Kick Attacks

Slide Kick: A short-distance slide to trip up opponents. Hold Down and press the high kick button.

  • SNES Default: v + R
  • GENS Default: v + C

Forward High Kick: Thrust an over-the-head kick while moving or standing by pressing the high kick button. The middle kick button works too but with less height and strength. If touching the opponent, Vega's leg reaches higher.

  • SNES Default: R or R + > or < + R (Also works with A)
  • GENS Default: C or C + > or < + C (Also works with B)

Kick the Mule: A forceful kick with a wide range, executed by pressing the low kick button while moving or standing. If touching the opponent, it changes to a knee-jab.

  • SNES Default: B or B + > or < + B
  • GENS Default: A or A + > or < + A

Soaring Heel: In mid-air, press the low kick button to perform a forceful kick. It changes to a different kick if not moving in the air.

  • SNES Default: B (Mid-Air)
  • GENS Default: A (Mid-Air)

Aerial Ninja Kick: In mid-air, press the middle or high kick buttons for a forward kick. The animation and strength vary depending on the button pressed.

  • SNES Default: X or L (Mid-Air)
  • GENS Default: Y or Z (Mid-Air)

Wall Jump: While jumping, if you hit a wall, reverse your direction to wall-jump off it. This works on either side of the screen.

  • SNES Default: < (Mid-Air Against Wall)
  • GENS Default: < (Mid-Air Against Wall)
