Guide to completing Jedi training in Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, including Jedi Trials, Force Powers, and class specializations like Guardian, Sentinel, and Consular.
The Council will discuss your dream, and you can choose to tell the truth or lie. You'll learn about your special bond with Bastila, the Sith, and the Jedi Council. They will accept you for training and send you to the ancient ruins on Dantooine where Revan and Malak were corrupted.
You will then undergo training to become a Jedi, eventually mastering your skills and being accepted into the order. To become a full Padawan, you must complete three trials.
1. [WDANJT] Jedi Trials
Speak with Master Zhar in the training room, adjacent to the main chamber with the other Jedi Masters. He will explain the first trial: knowing the Jedi Code. Seek out one of the Masters to learn the code. You can also speak to Master Dorak to learn about the Jedi Order's recent history, which provides context but no experience points.
Return to Master Zhar for your test. The correct answers are:
- There is no emotion... There is peace.
- There is no ignorance... There is knowledge.
- There is no passion... There is serenity.
- There is no chaos... There is harmony.
- There is no death... There is the Force.
After passing, Master Zhar will congratulate you and instruct you to see Master Dorak about creating your lightsaber. Dorak will discuss lightsaber colors and their meanings, then ask you questions to determine your best path, though the final decision is yours.
Jedi Guardian:
Similar to the Soldier class, with fewer class skills. If your intelligence is 12 or higher, you gain 2 skill points per level. The special ability is Force Jump, allowing a powerful leap attack on unsuspecting enemies. This class receives the most health per level.
Jedi Sentinel:
Similar to the Scoundrel class, with more skill points per level. The special ability is immunity to mind-affecting powers like fear, horror, and insanity. This class is a Guardian without the Force Jump and fewer feats.
Jedi Consular:
Similar to the Scout class, with similar class skills. At level 14 intelligence, you gain 2 skill points per level. The special ability is an increased chance for enemies to fail resistance to your Force powers. You gain two Force powers per level-up every 4-5 levels instead of one, and select new feats less often. This class receives the most Force points per level and is ideal for dark side players due to offensive dark powers.
You will receive a colored crystal based on your choice and level up, gaining access to Force powers.
2. [WDANNF] New Feats
Some new Jedi-related feats are awarded for free, often specific to a class. Two feats are given regardless of class and can be manually upgraded:
- Jedi Defense: Primarily focuses on ranged weapons. Its usefulness is limited as most ranged enemies are weak, and lightsaber-wielding enemies switch to melee.
- Weapon Proficiency Lightsaber: A useful feat, but not essential to upgrade. Dark side players should avoid upgrading it as a later item offers an upgrade. Light side players cannot equip it due to dark side restrictions.
3. [WDANFP] Force Powers
Force powers draw on the light side, dark side, or neither. Using a power of the opposite alignment costs more Force points. Force points regenerate slowly in combat and quickly after. Light side players should focus on defensive powers, while dark side players should focus on offensive powers.
Light side players should cast defensive powers first in tough fights to minimize damage. Dark side players can utilize their party members' light side powers that affect the entire group while attacking.
