Alright, let's talk about staying alive in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. This game doesn't mess around with health bars – one wrong move, one hit from fire or water, and Sly's toast. But don't worry, there are definitely ways to give yourself a better chance!

The main way to survive longer is by collecting Lucky Horseshoes. Think of these as extra hits Sly can take. Each horseshoe lets you survive one hit. You can have a maximum of two horseshoes at a time. You'll know if Sly has one by checking his back: no horseshoe means you're vulnerable, a blue one means you can take one hit, and a gold one means you can take two hits. You'll sometimes find these lying around, and you also get one every time you collect 100 gold coins. Plus, if you happen to get a game over twice on the same level, the game will kindly give you a blue horseshoe to help you out. A third game over will grant you a gold one.

Bentley's also been busy setting up holographic signal repeaters throughout the levels. These act as your checkpoints. If Sly bites the dust, you'll respawn at the last checkpoint you passed, and one of your precious lives will be deducted. If you run out of lives completely, you'll be sent back to the beginning of the current area, which can be a real pain, but hey, that's part of the challenge!

And speaking of lives, you can also earn extra ones! Keep an eye out for a small, spinning object that looks like Sly's head. Grabbing one of these will give you an extra life, giving you another shot if things go south.
