Learn how to access and navigate the Quake main menu by pressing the ESCAPE key. Quake pauses while the menu is active.

To access the main menu (the system for navigating game options) press the [ESCAPE] key at any time whilst Quake is running. Whilst you are using the menu system, Quake is paused. To select an item from a menu, move up or down it using the up and down arrow keys. To go back to the previous menu, press [ESCAPE]. To return to the game, press [ESCAPE] whilst on the main menu.
