Walkthrough

Run Q95.BAT with the command line parameters -NOIPX, -WINMEM 8, and -WINPACK 12. For example, in a DOS box, navigate to your Quake directory (default is C:\quake_sw) and type: 'Q95.BAT -NOIPX -WINMEM 8 -WINPACK 12'. This initiates Quake and configures its TCP/IP settings.

Press the [~] key to open the console.

Type the command 'CONNECT XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX', replacing XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX with the server's IP address. IP addresses can vary in length, such as XXX.XXX.XXX.XX.

If the connection attempt is successful, you will see 'TRYING...' in the console, followed by 'STILL TRYING...' approximately two to three more times.

You should now be connected to the Quake server.

Closing all other applications before launching Quake is crucial for optimal performance and stability.
