[13-3] The Artifacts

Master Quake's artifacts! Learn how to effectively use the Ring of Shadows, Quake Power, Pentagram of Protection, and Biosuit to dominate in deathmatch.

Alright, let's talk about the artifacts in Quake. These can seriously turn the tide of a match if you know how to use 'em. Think of them as temporary power-ups that give you an edge. We'll go through each one so you know what to do when you grab one.

A. Ring of Shadows

Honestly, this one's a bit of a letdown. It's supposed to make you harder to see, but the floating eyes it creates actually make you stand out more. Don't think for a second that players won't spot you just because you have this. They will. The only real time this might help is if you grab it in the middle of a massive firefight. If everyone's busy fragging each other, they *might* just overlook you. Hopefully.

B. Quake Power

This thing is absolutely insane! If you manage to snag this, your first move should be to switch to your Nailgun if you have one, or your Shotgun if not. With a Nailgun, you're looking at fragging galore. Just remember, don't get cocky and think you're invincible with this active. You can spot other players using Quake Power because they'll have a blue aura around them.

C. Pentagram of Protection

This is a pretty powerful artifact. The main downside is that players tend to run away from you when you've got it. The idea here is to use it to take out that one player who's hoarding all the ammo, so you can then become that player. If you've got a Missile Launcher and plenty of ammo, just dive into the thick of the action and start spraying missiles everywhere. You'll rack up a ton of frags. As a general rule, don't just stand around when you have the Pentagram active – nothing can hurt you, so take full advantage of that invulnerability.

You can tell if somebody else has the Pentagram of Protection because they'll have a yellow aura around them.

D. Biosuit

This artifact has almost no practical use in a deathmatch. The only niche situation where it might be useful is for some sneaky water-based stalking, but don't count on it for much else.
