After dealing with Team Rocket in Mahogany Town, it's time to challenge the Gym Leader. The Mahogany Town Gym features ice puzzles where stepping on ice causes you to slide until you hit an obstacle or a non-ice tile. You can choose a quick solution fighting only two trainers, or a full solution battling all four.

Quick Solution: From the entrance, go to the southwest corner and slide to the first trainer. After the battle, slide north, then east, then south, then west, then north for the second trainer. After that battle, slide east to face the Gym Leader.

Full Solution: Start by going north along the ice from the east side of the second statue. Battle the trainer. Return south, step east, then go north across the ice to battle another trainer. Return south, then battle the trainers in the southeast and southwest corners. From there, follow the quick solution's path to reach the Gym Leader.

Pryce's team consists of Water and Ice-type Pokémon. While Grass-types are normally effective against Water, Pryce's Ice-type moves will deal significant damage. Electric-types, especially Steel/Electric types like Magneton, are highly recommended as they resist Ice-type attacks and deal super-effective damage. If you have Typhlosion, the Thunderpunch TM from Goldenrod City is also a good option. Rock or Fighting-types can also be effective against Dewgong.

Note: TM36 (Sludge Bomb) can be obtained from an NPC on Route 43 north of Mahogany Town after Team Rocket has been dealt with.
