Recovering the Past

Alright, so you're looking to get started on the "Recovering the Past" quest in Mass Effect: Andromeda? It all kicks off on Aya. Head over to where you've parked the Tempest – you know, the docks? You'll find an Angara named Avela Kjar there. She's super curious about history and, wouldn't you know it, needs a hand digging into her people's past. She'll see you as a friend to the Angara and, well, she's not shy about asking for your help. It's a good way to prove yourself, so accept her request to find some ancient Angaran ships on Havarl.

Now, for the actual quest part: you'll need to fly over to Havarl. Once the Tempest lands, make your way east. Your main target is this huge trench that basically cuts the area in half. The ancient wreckage you're looking for is right in the middle of that trench. Just to give you some bearings, it's east of the Forward Station, which itself is east of the Pelaav Research Station.

Warning: As you get closer, be ready for a fight. The wreckage is likely being guarded by Remnant, and you'll probably run into Roekaar and some local wildlife on your way there too. So, take them all out as you go. Once you reach the wreckage, scan the ship and make sure to loot the “Ancient Starship Cockpit.” Inside, you'll find the “Ancient Angaran Pilot’s Helmet” – that's your prize!

With the helmet in hand, head back to Aya and find Avela Kjar again. She's in the Repository of History. She'll be thrilled with your find and will probably ask you to look for more artifacts on other Angaran worlds, like Kadara and Voeld. Completing this part wraps up “Recovering the Past” and kicks off the next quest, “Forgotten History.”

Oh, and a quick note: if you happened to find the Angaran Artifact on Voeld during the “Uncovering the Past” quest, you'll automatically hand it over to Avela during this conversation.
