Navigate Half-Life Part 60, from healing chambers to tricky lifts, and prepare for the endgame boss.
Walkthrough
- 1Find a healing chamber in a room with a vortigaunt (vort); approach cautiously and fire hornets ahead.
- 2Ride the spinny up-n-down lift and quicksave.
- 3On the walkway, memorize the vortigaunt's position, quickrestore, and defeat it with hornets or an AR grenade.
- 4Ride the lift again, run to a ledge, then along the walkway to a large area behind three pillars.
- 5Use this area to defeat the three alien controllers with hornets. Use the assault rifle on at least one controller to conserve gluon gun ammo.
- 6Walk along skinny, curving walkways to two small door-sized holes in the wall. Enter the right-hand doorway and proceed down a red-lit corridor to a tall spiral-screw-style room.
- 7On the central structure's lowest floor, altfire-hornet the grunt barrel, then back up and fire hornets to kill the grunt.
- 8Defeat the vortigaunt on the lowest floor, which may be hiding behind the central pillar.
- 9Move to see the right side of the grunt barrel on the floor across from your doorway, altfire-hornet it, then strafe left and fire hornets to kill the grunt.
- 10Find and defeat the vortigaunt on this floor, jumping onto its floor and moving slowly around the pillar if necessary.
- 11Collect supplies from this floor and the floor below by dropping onto the spiral walkway.
- 12Return to the second floor by going up the walkway and jumping.
- 13Move along the walkway to jump up and kill the vortigaunt on the third floor (no need to break the grunt barrel).
- 14Check the third floor for supplies, then go up the spiral walkway to jump-hornet the vortigaunt on the fourth floor.
- 15Quicksave before walking onto the fourth floor, which has health packs, armor batteries, and an ammo canister behind two grunt barrels.
- 16If you choose to get the goodies on the fourth floor, quicksave, run to get them quickly, drop to the floor below, repeat to get back to the second floor, run to the nearby doorway, and go around the corner to be safe.
- 17Return to the main chamber and go to the next spinny up-n-down lift.
- 18Quicksave before riding this lift, as it pauses very little and can glitch-jam at the top, damaging you. Three more alien controllers will appear as you ride up.
- 19The best way to handle this lift is to jump on, let it rise, quickrestore if it glitches, and stay on until it goes down again.
- 20Jump toward the big area behind the three huge pillars and take cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) to defeat the three controllers with hornets. Alternatively, ride the lift up, enter the side area with the healing chamber, and defeat controllers as they follow.
- 21After defeating the controllers, return to the lift area, quicksave, and keep riding the lift up and trying to jump off onto the walkway, quickrestoring when you fall or get glitch-stuck until you succeed.
- 22Check the side area for a healing chamber.
- 23Stand in the side area's doorway and look toward the final spinny up-n-down lift. If a vortigaunt is on it, hornet-shoot it.
- 24Get on the lift when it stops next to you. Wait until it stops near the big twirly spinaroosa teleporter gadget.
- 25Jump into the gadget's zappy green center to be taken to section c4a1f.
- 26In section c4a1f, make running jumps to the nearest platform until you reach the big floating rock with the red teleporter swirl.
- 27Quicksave, then jump up to enter the red swirl, which takes you to the Nihilanth chapter.
Tips
- Always keep hornets fired ahead when approaching new areas with potential enemies.
- Use quicksaves frequently, especially before riding lifts or entering new areas.
- Altfire-hornet is effective for destroying grunt barrels from a distance.
- Memorize enemy positions, especially vortigaunts, to plan your attacks.
- The area behind the three huge pillars is excellent cover for fighting alien controllers.
- If the spinny lift glitches at the top, quickrestore and try again.
